HEJH3810 Cat 307D, 308D Mini Hydraulic Excavator
Key Features and Benefits

1. Meets Interim Tier 4 EPA Emissions Standards

• Targets the increased environmental and regulatory pressures that customers are experiencing
• 4M40-TL meets Interim Tier 4 Emissions while maintaining durability & reliability and improving fuel
efficiency
2. Increased Operator Comfort
• Ergonomic placement and function of controls reduce operator fatigue
• New Operator Station now common with larger Excavators
• Improved airflow for air conditioning, heating, and ventilation
• Air Suspension seat now available for maximum comfort
• Adjustable joysticks which are integrated with the seat and armrests
• Auto-Idle and Auto Two-speed transmission
3. Improved Performance and Lifting Capability
• Targets the customers need of maximizing productivity
• 10% Stick Force improvement
• 22% Bucket Force improvement
• 15% more Tractive forces improving dozing and turning performance
• Larger counterweight provides additional lifting capability
• Faster cycle times for greater performance efficiency
4. Best in class Versatility
• Targets the customers need to reduce operating costs by doing more with less
• Complete range of work tool offerings
• Standard combined function high-pressure auxiliary hydraulic circuit ensures the machine is ready for
any job. Standardizing on this feature integrates these machines into the mini-excavator Product Family,
and reduces cost thoughout our distribution channel by eliminating re-configuration expenses.
• Tool Control System is standard, allows operator to select between 17 and 34 gpm flow rate on the
auxiliary system
• Two operation modes can be selected, standard and eco-mode. Standard mode provides full
performance attributes: speed and forces while the eco-mode limits speed and forces to optimize fuel
efficiency while providing an intermediate level operator an environment to develop skills

Key Features and Benefits

5. More intuitive feedback to operator through monitor

• Targets the shortage of qualified labor with multi-language, text feedback to operator
• New color, LCD monitor now common with large D-Series Excavators
• 27 different languages available to meet customer’s diverse workforce
• Pre-start fluid level checks
• Monitor messages/warnings are in text form instead of codes
• Programmable service interval reminders for timely maintenance
• Brightness and Contrast adjustable for all light conditions
6. Lower owning and operating cost
• Grease Lubricated Track provides longer wear life by reducing dirt entry to the pin and bushing joint
• Boom and stick regeneration circuit saves energy during boom down and stick in operations,
increasing efficiency and lowering operating costs.
• Extended Maintenance Intervals
o Front Linkage (not including bucket linkage) 1,000 hours.
o Bucket linkage 100 hours.
o Engine Oil/Filter –500 hours.
o Hydraulic Cartridge Filter –2,000 hours.

Work Tools
With the 22% increase in bucket force performance, the pin diameter increased from 45 mm in C-Series to 50
mm in D-Series. Buckets, couplers, and thumbs now have a family appearance of the MHE and are redesigned
to account for higher loads. In addition, A26B Auger will now be available for D-Series 307/308. C-Series tools
will not work with D-Series work tools and vice versa. Noticeable changes, comparing to C-Series work tools
will include, ease of ordering (one part number per bucket which includes default GET, one part number per
thumb, etc.) and competitive pricing.

Market Positioning Strategy

Caterpillar is pleased to announce the 307D, 308DCR and 308DCR SB Hydraulic Excavators for sale into the
U.S. and Canadian markets. The D-series builds on the C-Series reputation by retaining the most valued C-
Series features, while offering many more enhanced items. The features include a new world-class cab, a new
4M40-TL turbocharged engine, improved performance and lift capability, and best in class versatility. The
D-series improves customer productivity, and provides the operator with a more comfortable place to work.
The D-series also marks the 8-ton machine’s full integration into the mini-excavator lineup with the addition
of a true rubber belt option, standard high-pressure auxiliary hydraulics, and standard thumb-ready sticks. The
307D and 308DCR will be a direct replacement for the 307C and 308CCR. The 307C SB will be replaced by
the 308DCR SB, thus offering a CR machine with a swing-boom together for the first time in this size class for
Caterpillar.
