FOREWORD
Foreword
We believe that people across Pakistan are rich in
talent, creativity and resources. Our training
programmes stimulate communities to build on these
assets. IRM acknowledges the diversity among people
from Mardan to Gawadar & Badin to Muzzafarabad
and takes pride in fostering and upgrade the skills of
marginalized rural communities over the last 16 years.
Through this report you can see how our training
programmes are empowering and strengthening
women and men to become ambassadors of change.
We also believe in hard work and innovation through which we achieved remarkable
success in 2008-09. Our staff Training Programme is geared towards speed and
efficiency with uncompromising attitude towards quality. We have made significant
progress towards positioning ourselves as an internationally competitive training
institute.
I would like to thank the Chairman, members of the steering committee, the organizations
that we work with and the Team IRM that have worked hard for the trust people place in
IRM.
“…The one million people I worked with for 12 years in Northern Areas of Pakistan through the
Aga Khan Rural Support Programme reinforced my conviction of the tremendous potential
and willingness in people to do many things themselves to come out of poverty. All that they
needed was a support organisation to help them unleash their potential. Once organised the
men and women took their destiny in their own hands. They knew what would bring them out of
poverty.….. I have seen people coming out of poverty with my own eyes and smiles on their
faces instead of abstruse statistics”.
Communities are getting sustained benefits from the vast array of training programmes offered by
IRM, especially through employable skills. IRM is one of the thriving successors to the vision of
RSPs. This report reflects diligent efforts in IRM's continuing journey towards professional
excellence; we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening our programmes, management and
professional brilliance in the years to come.
