Capiz Heritage Month Celebration 2019

2. Rationale:

The Provincial Government of Capiz takes pride in the rich cultural and historical
heritage of its beloved province. It is in this light that various efforts and initiatives
concentrated on promoting and safeguarding Capisnon heritage are
progressively effected to bring about awareness, passion and honor amongst the
community. Moreover, the Provincial Government adheres religiously to its
Provincial Tourism Code which declared the National Heritage Month every May
as one of the institutionalized events celebrated in the province.

In Celebration of the National Heritage Month The Provincial Government of Capiz


through the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office will again spearhead the
celebration of National Heritage Month in Capiz. This is in recognition of the need
to create among the people a consciousness, respect, and pride for the legacies
of Filipino culture, history, and love of country especially that of Capisnons. The
celebration will involve awareness-raising events for heritage conservation to
gather the participation of various stakeholders: youth, teachers, provincial,
municipal and city employees, local legislators and private sector, not only in Capiz
but also from provinces in the whole region.

3. Objective:

 To showcase the rich culture, heritage, deeply-rooted traditions and folkways


of the Province of Capiz;
 To involve the community especially the youth, men and women, boys and
girls in safeguarding the cultural heritage of the province; and
 To acknowledge and support the role of the local artists and cultural
workers/masters in preserving local traditions and initiate ways to promote
safeguarding and care for our cultural heritage.

Dagway, Duag, Dungog: A Hands-on Production Design Workshop

1. Date and Venue:


February 13-15, 2019
MVW Restaurant and Tourist Inn

2. Rationale:

In celebration of CAPIZtahan Festival 2019, the Provincial Government of Capiz


through the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office will conduct the
Sadsad Capiz Festival Dance Competition as one of the component activities
to showcase the richness of Capisnon culture, arts and heritage. The said
competition aims to exhibit the rich and vibrant cultural heritage of Capiz
depicting characters from Capisnon folklores, sea creatures and cultural icons.

As part of the preparation for the said activity, the PTCAO shall conduct a
three-day workshop focused on Capisnon creativity and imagination on
February 13-15, 2019 to capacitate its participating teams composed of both
men and women from the various municipalities/city of the province for the
forthcoming component activity of Capiztahan 2019.

The Provincial Government of Capiz through the Provincial Tourism and


Cultural Affairs Office has integrated Culture, Arts and Heritage Enrichment
and Gender and Development Programs to its Strategic Development Plan to
ensure sustainability in the promotion and development of the rich culture, arts
and heritage of Capiz.

3. Objective:

 To enhance the celebration of Capiztahan Festival 2019 through showcase of


appropriate costumes, props and set design during the Sadsad sa Capiz
Competition.
 To enhance skills of the participants on festival costume and props making as
well as set designing based on Capisnon culture, arts and heritage.
 To deepen knowledge and develop a sense of pride among the participants
with regards to Capisnon culture, arts and heritage.

121st Year of Philippine Independance

1. Date and Venue:

2. Rationale:

Philippine Independence Day is an annual national holiday in the Philippines


commemorating and recognizing the undying contribution of Filipino heroes which
gave birth to an indeed freed country where we are now fully privileged to enjoy.
Paying tribute to the 121st Year of Philippine Independence reaffirms our commitment
and gives importance to our heroes and martyrs who paid the ultimate price for our
freedom.

Every Filipino is invited to help build an ever progressing nation, whether one is in the
highest ranks of government or an employee, a student or an OFW. This event is in
consonance with the Gender and Development Project of the Provincial Government
through the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, promoting equality among
men and women.

3. Objective:

 To raise awareness and deepen appreciation among the youth about the significance
of Philippine Independence in today’s generation.
 To commemorate the heroic acts of our forefathers against oppression which reminds
the present and future generation of the nationalism, commitment, and devotion of
the Filipinos towards the Philippines.
 To rekindle the spirit of patriotism, our roots and heritage, the culture and tradition that
characterize our people as integral to the country’s meaningful development, in the
pursuit of national identity and unity.

Fiesta Taliambong 2019 (Capiz Provincial Arts Month)

1. Date and Venue:


February 1-28, 2019
Roxas City, Capiz

2. Rationale:

The Provincial Government of Capiz through the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs
Office will hold a month-long celebration of Capiz Provincial Arts Month with various
component activities in consonance with the Presidential Proclamation No. 683, signed
on January 28, 1991 by President Corazon Aquino declaring the month of February as
the National Arts Month. This month is devoted to the celebration of the development
and promotion of the seven Philippine art forms: music, dance, visual arts, architecture,
film, theatre and literature.

The Capiz Provincial Arts Month Celebration is anchored to the Gender and
Development Project of the Provincial Government of Capiz as well as its aim of
promoting Capiz as a venue for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions
(MICE). Thus, it is focused toward showcasing the product of the creative efforts of our
artists and cultural workers; providing opportunities for men and women; in developing
appreciation for Capisnon Arts among youth; and informing and motivating women
and children in using creative methodologies towards a responsive tourism, culture and
the arts.

3. Objective:

 Celebrate the importance of art and culture in enriching the Filipino nation;
 Showcase the artistry and creativity of Capisnons through the conduct of various
activities such as exhibits, workshops and perf
ormances;
 Serve as venue for cultural exchange among artists from the various performing
groups in the country;
 Utilize art as a catalyst for values education;
 Integrate arts in the lives of every Capisnon by increasing their understanding and
appreciation of its significance in their daily living;
 Deepen knowledge and develop a sense of pride among Capisnons and among the
youth with regards to art; and
 Safeguard, support and promote artistic creations of the community of Capiz.
 Promote Capiz as a venue for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions
(MICE).
