L= 8,5 ... 10 mm
‡ Tighten the self-locking nuts (w/f 17) so that there is a gap of
L
‡ max. 10 mm and min. 8.5 mm between the two flange plates.
Length L = 8.5 – 10 mm
With purge-air unit (optional)
‡ Connect the purge-air hoses to the connection piece on the purge-air attachments and
secure them with hose clamps
‡ Switch on the purge-air unit. Check for purge air at the purge-air attachments on the trans-
mitter and receiver
Follow the remaining steps in the standard installation procedure above
On the transmitter:
‡ Mount the optical alignment device on the purge-air attachments, see Fig. 2.
Mount the alignment device with lamp on the receiver side and the device with the focu-
sing screen on the transmitter side.
‡ Tighten the two screws on the transmitter for the horizontal (X) and vertical (Y) adjust-
ment, see Fig. 4.1, so that the light spot appears at the center of the focusing screen of
the adjustment tube.
Correct ‡ Swap the optical alignment devices on the purge-air attachments of the transmitter and
receiver
At the receiver:
‡ Tighten the two screws on the transmitter for the horizontal (X) and vertical (Y) adjust-
ment, see Fig. 4.1, so that the light spot appears at the center of the focusing screen of
the adjustment tube.
‡ Please control the adjustment on boh sides.

6 Startup
6.1 Requirements
You must complete and check the following before you start the system:
‡ Check the electrical installations
‡ Check and perform a functional test on the purge-air unit (option)
‡ Align the flanges
‡ Check the active measuring distance (see GM 901 Planning Guide)
Note After you have switched on the power supply and following an initial warm-up phase of ap-
prox. 30 minutes, the system begins stable operation.
Attention
Always perform a zero-point adjustment before the system is started!
ATTENTION
A CO-free environment must be available to perform the zero-point adjustment.
If the system is shut down and the duct is free of CO, the adjustment can also be performed
at the measuring point directly.
‡ Remove the purge-air attachments from the transmitter and receiver and attach them to
the mounting bracket (optional) securely.
‡ Set the mounting bracket to the flange-flange distance of the duct measuring distance
and align it so that it is flush.
‡ Align the purge-air attachments
(see Aligning the Optical Axis, Page 9)
‡ Secure the transmitter and receiver on the purge-air attachments
Attention
Do not change the alignment of the mounting bracket.
ATTENTION
Note As the adjustment of the measurement path changes the parameters of the device, the val-
ues must be stored before zero point adjustment. (see Chapter 8.2.1.6, Page 31. Setting of
parameters - measuring path)
‡ Press the CAL button on the control panel of the evaluation unit to start the zero-point
adjustment (see Chapter 8.3.1, Page 41)

TW = check value
MB = full scale
S = active measuring range
x = position of the check value
Example:
full scale MB = 1500 ppm
active measuring range S=4m
check value at 70 % of the MB x = 0,7
