CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
The history of funeral service is a history of mankind. Funeral customs are as old as civilization
itself. Every culture and civilization attends to the proper care of their dead. Every culture and
civilization ever studied has three things in common relating to death and the disposition of the
dead some type of funeral rites, rituals, and ceremonies, a sacred place for the dead,
memorialization of the dead. Funeral traditions and rituals have been an important part of how
communities and individuals externalized grief for thousands of years. They are understood as an
important means of taking care of the deceased, as well as those that are coping with the loss of
someone they care for. As a result, such rites and rituals are both extremely personal and
extremely diverse- not only across cultures, but across time. Different communities in different
contexts have found unique ways of organizing funeral rites that cater to their specific social
values and beliefs, as well as the geographical spaces in which these traditions have taken place.

COMPANY LOGO
In creating a logo for the company, the proponents prefer to be simple yet elegant. The straight
line at the bottom part of CIGN symbolizes our open-mindedness as we look forward to new
opportunities and challenges that may come along our way. We chose the black color because
this color symbolizes stability and profitability. It is the goal of every business to be profitable

BUSINESS NAME
Business name is one of the most essential things to be prepared in starting a business. Ideally,
the first thing that attracts the customer is the name of the business. To be able to penetrate in an
industry it must have its own identity that is meaningful, simple and easy to remember. The
proponents decided to name our Funeral service provider Business “ETHEREAL BLISS:
Funeral Home”. As the name implies, Ethereal (1)relating to the regions beyond the earth, (2)
celestial, heavenly, (3)unwordly, spiritual. The ancient Greeks believed that the Earth was
composed of earth, air, fire, and water, but that the heavens and its denizens were made of a
purer, less tangible substance known as either "ether" or "quintessence." Ether was often
described as an invisible light or fire, and its name derives from the Greek aithein, a verb
meaning "to ignite" or "to blaze." It referred specifically to regions beyond the Earth, but it
gradually came to refer to anything heavenly or airy. Bliss is a reach a state of perfect happiness,
joy oblivious of everything else. A joy that will satisfy our client’s family.

We associated dove, olive leaf, death symbol, and cross to achieve this kind of logo. It's usual to
see a dove and an olive leaf in every funeral home logo, but the business' logo is different
because of its meaning. The blue dove represents the sadness of the dead’s family. The olive leaf
symbolizes the peacefulness of the spirit of the dead person. At the bottom of the logo you can
see the black color symbol, the arms pointing downward indicating the death of a person. The
symbol is called Yr rune and it was taken from the Younger Futhark also known as Scandinavian
alphabet. At the bottom part of “Ethereal bliss” and “Funeral Home” there is cross on the middle
that has a horizontal line in both side. The horizontal line is separated from each other –the left
side represents the earth while the right one is the heaven. Death is not the only way to heaven
but Jesus himself. He died on the cross to save us from our sins. From the symbol of cross, Jesus

MARKETING ASPECT
The Marketing is considered the most important area. This is so because it describes
market situations where the product can be identified through the demand analysis.
The first thing to do is to enumerate the competitors, their location, and their
capacity/size. Marketing Plans or strategies should be done in order to attract customers and even
A. MARKET SEGMENTATION
Social generations are divisions of people born in the same date range and who have the same
cultural experiences. Different range in how age groups are experiencing the world—socially,
economically, politically, and technologically. We have segmented the market in terms of the
five generations that are over age 30 who will form the active decision-making market. The five
generations are the Traditionalist (age 73 or older), the Baby Boomers (age 54-72), the
Generation X (age 38-53 , the Millennials (22-37) and the portion of Centennials (0-21).
Members of the traditionalist generation tend to have a practical outlook on life and the way they
approach the world in general. Many members of this generation lived through some challenging
times, such as World Wars I and II, as well as the Great Depression. Survival became a theme
Baby boomers were the wealthiest, most active, and most physically fit generation up to the era
in which they arrived, and were among the first to grow up genuinely expecting the world to
improve with time. They were also the generation that received peak levels of income; they
could therefore reap the benefits of abundant levels of food, apparel, retirement programs, and
sometimes even "midlife crisis" products. The increased consumerism for this generation has
been regularly criticized as excessive obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol are all
on the rise in the boomer population. Cancer and heart disease are the leading cause of death.
Sometimes referred to as the “lost” generation, this was the first generation of “latchkey” kids,
exposed to lots of daycare and divorce. Known as the generation with the lowest voting
participation rate of any generation, Gen Xers were quoted by Newsweek as “the generation that
dropped out without ever turning on the news or tuning in to the social issues around them.” Gen
X is often characterized by high levels of skepticism, “what’s in it for me” attitudes and a
reputation for some of the worst music to ever gain popularity. With high level of education and
a growing maturity they are starting to form families with a higher level of caution and
pragmatism than their parents demonstrated. Concerns run high over avoiding broken homes,
kids growing up without a parent around and financial planning. This generation has an
world. They are the generation that has received the most marketing attention. As the most
ethnically diverse generation, Millennials tend to be tolerant of difference. Having been raised
under the mantra "follow your dreams" and being told they were special, they tend to be
confident. While largely a positive trait, the Millennial generation’s confidence has been argued
to spill over into the realms of entitlement and narcissism. They are often seen as slightly more
optimistic about the future than other generations -- despite the fact that they are the first
generation since the Silent Generation that is expected to be less economically successful than
their parents.
Millennials are generally comfortable with the idea of a public Internet life. Privacy, in the
Millennial eye, is mostly a concern of functional settings limiting who sees their online shares.
This comfort with social media means they are good at self-promotion and fostering connections
through online media. But this approach often results in an issue when comparing themselves to
peers.
As we can all attest, they have very short attention spans. They are accustomed from birth to
sensory overload, so naturally, the amount of time they require to filter through information is
substantially decreased. This is both beneficial and detrimental, but it certainly contrasts the
status quo. Centennials technology is not a consumer item but a tool that facilitates access to
Centennials are true digital natives; they are considered as the generation best prepared for
understanding and using future innovations. Centennials are slightly more serious and ascetic.
Maybe due to the fact, that on social media they are used to seeing reports about all kinds of
adversity (such as school shootings) and often endure cyber-bullying. They prefer basic
wardrobe, do not care much about status symbols and are less dreamy than their parents, but

TREND ANALYSIS
Trend Analysis - - use to determine pattern or movements of an economic variable over time that
may indicate the direction in which it will proceed over time. Historical demand data is collected
for a number of years. The rate of growth of demand data is collected during the past years is
extrapolated and is for projecting the future demand over a period of time. A relatively long
series of historical data is required to ensure that short term economic fluctuations or changes in
the social environment do not unduly affect the median line to be extrapolated. Trend a
projection assumes that factors affecting past demand will continue to prevail in the future for
preliminary estimation purposes or for small scale projects, this method is usually sufficient.
