C. Learning Activity

Now, based on the pictures you have copied from our

game, what do you think is our lesson for today? Any : Cheer dance sir!
guess? Yes Joey?

Very good! Our topic for today is Cheer Dance: Nature

and Movements. Before we proceed, I want you to meet
Tristan. He is 23 years old. He noticed that he is starting
to gain some weight, that’s why he decided to have some
physical activities. What activities can you suggest him
to do? Yes Bet? : Playing basketball sir!

Sounds good!
Another? Yes Mark?
: Dancing sir!

Perfect!
Since our lesson for today is about Cheer Dance, let us
learn together and be fit. Does it sound good class! : Yes Sir!

Alright! Let’s start!

Kindly read Jeff. : Cheer dancing rooted from cheerleading.
Cheerleading is the performance of routine, usually
dominated by gymnastics skills such as jumps, tumbling
skills, lifts and tosses combined with shouting of cheers
and yells. It was originated in the United States.

Thank you, Jeff! Cheerleading is just doing routine. They

combined it with cheers and yells to lead the crowd or
audiences to cheer for a certain team during a game or
sport. Now, let us proceed to cheer dance. Kindly read
Josie. : Cheer dance is coined from the words, Cheer and
Dance. To cheer is to shout out words or phrases during
the game. Dance, on the other hand is a physical activity
where one expresses emotions or gestures while
performing bodily movements usually in time with
rhythm.

Thank you Josie!

Now class, why do we cheer? : To motivate the players, sir!

Yes Sadam?

Very good! Another?

Yes John? : To boost the morale of the players, sir!

You both got the point. We cheer in order for our team to
gain confidence and boost their fighting spirit. Now, due
to Filipino’s love for dancing, they added more dance
routines to their cheers and came up with the terms cheer
dance. Today, cheer dancing is identified as one of the
most spectacular events in our country, the UAAP
(University Athletic Association of the Philippines.)

After discussing the nature and origin of cheer dance, let

us proceed to the essentials of cheer dancing. Let us
focus on the arm or hand movements. Let us first
discover the different arm movements.

But before that, we will have another group activity. Stay

on your group. I have here an envelope, and in this
envelope it contains the basics hand movements of Cheer
Dance. All you have to do is to interpret it as a group.
You will demonstrate it to the class later on. I will give
you 10 minutes for your activity. Is that clear class?
: Yes Sir!
Team leaders kindly get your envelopes here.
Are you ready class?
: Yes Sir!

On my whistle, you may now start the activity.
