RYODORAKU

An Objective Control of
The Autonomous Nervous System

It is an ancient perception that the acupuncture phenomenon has to be

considered as a function of the autonomous nervous system, a fact, which seems incredible
nowadays for the occidental mentality, and medecine.
Nakatani has proved this fact in 1950. When measuring the electric resistance
of the human skin by the aid of a wet electrode of 12 V and 200 pA, he found out
that there are a lot of points, the resistance of which is lower than the one of the
surrounding area, and which correspond to the Chinese acupuncture points.
He called them "Ryodoten" reactive electro-permeable points (REEP).
By connecting these points, he got The "Ryodoraku"-=-- the electricity well conducting
lines, which correspond to the "Meridians".
By measuring the conductibility of a Ryodoraku in the representative points,
you can draw a graph on a specially designed Ryodoraku Chart.
Thus, you can fix the middle range of a patient's autonomous nervous
system. The divergencies permit to find out the patient's complaints, similarly to the
puls diagnosis, which Europeans are generally incapable of learning.
You can stimulate or sedate a Ryodoraku like a Meridian, and compensate
the nervous system.

When listening to oriental tales being children , we found it very amazing
to hear that the physician was not allowed to see a member of the harem taken ill
, he
just had the permission to touch her pulse through on opening of the wall separating
the harem from the outside. He came to a diagnosis by judging the pulsation
, and thus,
made his perscription.
In a similar way, occidental physician are still amazed at the art of acupun -
cture, and especially the diagnosis of the pulse .
Even though, in 1895, Durville managed to prove the "centres nerveux"
,

and their relationship to internal organs by electrical stimulation of the scalp, the
attempts to explain the acupuncture mechanism were reduced to using electrical machines
for searching points, and stimulation for therapy. The phenomenon of the diagnosis of
the pulse and its origin could thus not be approached.
Since thousands of years, the existence of the meridians has been known
in the Far East ; the discovering of a method of measuring them was reserved to the
Japanese Nakatani, who, unfortunately, deceased prematurely. He succeeded in it in
1950 at Kyoto University when making electrical researches on the resistance of the
skin.
In order to exclude the differences of humidity of the different skin areas,
Nakatani used an electrode, into which was tamped surgical cotton immersed in 30%
isopropyl alcohol.
Independently from hair follicles, and sweat glands, Nakatani found points
at 21 volts and 200 mA, which correspond to the points known in acupuncture.
He called those points "Ryodoten" = Electropermeable Points (EEP) .
When reducing the tension to 12 V, he met less points which were found to depend on
a pathological reflex of the autonomic nervous system, and which referred to patholo-
gical alterations of the body. Nakatani supposed that this phenomenon depends on
biochemical reactions. The discovery of the endogene opiates.
The corresponding points were called "Hanno Ryodoten" = Reactive Elec-
tropermeable Points (REEP).
By connecting The EEP they obtained the meridians we know, and which

awa called "Ryodoraku" --= highly electroconductive lines.

Under this name, this measuring method became world-famous.

During the following period the resistance of the skin was measured on
more than 350 persons at different times of the day and in different seasons, and regis-
tered in scales. The measurements of the different Ryodoraku were started on the
fingertips, and the tips of the toes, and called Ryodoraku of the hand/foot.
The results have been registered in scales. As the measurement of all points
has turned out to be too complicated, a representative measuring point has been fixed

for each Ryodoraku ; these measuring points do not always coincide with the traditional
source points.
These scales served as basis for the calculation of the Ryodoraku chart.
The measured values of each repersentative point are fixed in the scale. A
1.4 cm-wide ruler is layed in between the highest and the lowest meaured value, and
shows the patient's individual medium value, which means the state of his autonomic
nervous system.

The values lying in the upper line point to an increased sympaticotonus,

the ones underneath to a higher vagotonus of the Ryodoraku.
Values above the upper line indicate a sedation of the concerning Ryodo-
raku, the ones underneath its stimulation. This is done by the well-known, generally
employed Chinese points by electrical stimulation of the needles.
Besides, too high or too low values permit to conclude certain symptoms
or organ diseases, which either have been concealed by the patient or which have not
occurred to him.
Very often, the patient is amazed to see that these measured values lead
to the diagnosis, and the therapy. However, you should always stick to the principle
"No acupunture treatment without occidental diagnosis".

In any case, this procedure of measurement is a good base for the inherent
physical or herbal therapy.
Please, have a look at the following samples.
1)
29-year
The old patient who works as a civil servant, complained about
pains in his back, and stiffness of the whole spine, which suddenly appeared more than
one year ago.
Since two months, he has been observing sensation in both of his hands
and swelling.
After 7 treatments, there were no more complaints. Except the acupuncture

treatment, baths and therapeutic gymnastics had been perscribed.

2)
41-year
The old housewife works as an employee in her husband's radio
shop. She is the mother of two sons (11 and 13 years old), and suffered from an acute
attack of an ischialgia, recidivating since years, and an improved cervico-brachial synd-
rom.
After the first treatment there was already an improvement of the compla-
ints. The two sons even observed, that their mother could get hold of them again
when "chasing" them for having played some foolish trick.
After the third treatment, there were no more complaints left, and the patient
went on a journey to the USA. Except the acupuncture treatment, baths, Dilofenac
(a derivate of Anthralinic acid), and Harpagophytum D2 had been perscribed.
3)
This
patient, a 26-year old employee in the administration of justice, has
been suffering from an allergy against pollen, and from insomnia. It is not clear,
whether his complaints disappeared in consequence of acupuncture, medicaments, or the
combination of both therapeutics.
As a result of the chart, and investigations on the patient, he has been
suffering occasionally from weak stomach, diarrhoea, nausea, sweat eruptions and perm-
anent insomnia.
After 10 treatments, during which he suffered only one day of full fruit-
tree, and birch-tree blossom from running of the eyes, he had no more complaints, and
the insomnia had ceased. As medicaments had been perscribed Histamin D6, Retoglutary
acid D6, and a herbal sedative, which did not contain valerian.
4)
日良 自律4号 -25(111)—

The 81-year old patient suffers from maculopathia diabetica. He saw every-
thing like "through fog", and was unable to cross the street on his own, nor to find
his own way.
After 20 treatments, the fog-seeing had disappeared. The patient could

go and see people on his own again.

As we all know, it is extremely difficult to delimit a neurosis from a som-
atic disease, even though the disease has been known for thousands of years.
In the more than 2000-year old book "Ling Kii King", the Chinese author
describes exactly in the chapter about human soul, the relationship between mental
disease and the organic complaints.
I shall demonstrate on two patients, who were treated almost during the
same period, how precisely you can delimit these disturbances with the Ryodoraku chart.

5)
The
29-year old graduated mathematician is teaching mathematics at a
grammar school. The patient, who is quite unsporty, started playing tennis 6 months
ago. After a short time, his right elbow started aching. At first, this complaint could
be treated successfully, and the pain ceased.
The patient started playing tennis again, and his pain became so strong
that he became unable to write, and he had to engage a help for the writing work. All
conventional methods to kill his pain stayed without result.
The Ryodoraku chart showed high values of all foot meridians, which
signifies neurotic influence. After 6 acupuncture treatments, and redressment of the
blocked cervical vertebras according to Levit, there were no more complaints.
As medicaments were perscribed Traumeel ointment and Ignatia D4.
In the meantime, the patient separated from his girl-friend, who obviously
-26(112)- 日良 自律4号

did not get on with his mother.

The restauration becomes evident, when you study the control chart.
6)
The 46-year old housewife has three daughters. Two of them are very
intelligent, and work as teachers, whilst the youngest one, who is twelve years old, is
an autistic child.
Since a few weeks, the patient has been complaining about spastic pains in
her abdomen, especially during the night.
The examination with all modern medical techniques including computer
tomography in one of the university hospitals was without any result. So the patient
was told to suffer from neurosis, and to go and see a psycho-analyst.
The Ryodoraku chart showed that she did not suffer from neurosis. Exept
this, the abdomen was blown up, and enterodysbacteria was supposed and confirmed
by special investigations.
Three weeks after the beginnins of the medicament therapy, the patient
felt well, which can be demonstrated on the Ryodoraku chart control.
