Key Concepts / An argument is a conclusion based upon evidence (i.e. premises). Arguments are commonly

4. PROCEDURES
4.1 Introductory Let the assigned group facilitate the recapitulation of the previous lesson in a form of
Activity Picture Clues. (Let them realize that the elderly are people who have time-tested wisdom).

4.2 Activity / Strategy Let selected students perform a skit on the following scenarios:
1. a mother leaving the house for work gives instructions to the eldest child on how to
manage the household chores
2. a class adviser who will take a maternity leave instructs her advisory class to behave at all
times
4.3 Analysis Processing Activity:
Let the students answer the following questions in their respective group:
1. What instructions were given in the first scenario? In the second scenario?
2. How an important following instruction is in terms of doing or accomplishing a task?
*Guide the students in realizing the benefit of having and following guidelines in reading
and examining arguments.

Fairness- Is the argument fair and balanced, or does it contain bias? Is the argument overly
emotional and filled with loaded language?
Is the argument one-sided? Are there alternative points of view not addressed?
Evidence- Are the given premises reliable and relevant?
Logic- Are the arguments thoroughly explained? Do they contain gaps in reasoning or logical
fallacies?
Tone- Is the attitude of the writer appropriate for the content?

The teacher will present to the class, a rant post in Facebook. The students will evaluate the
argument on the said context.
4.5 Application Ask the students:

4.6 Assessment Text Analysis in a short bondpaper
The teacher will let the students watch a video about extrajudicial killing; the learner will
evaluate the perspective of the author in a short bondpaper.
