2.0 PURPOSE

2.1 The purpose of this document is to provide sizing calculation for the
Emergency Diesel Generator as part of the Project.
2.2 The calculation shall determine the apparent power rating of the Emergency
Diesel Generator, in order to meet the operational requirement of the Project.

3.0 SCOPE

3.1 This document covers sizing of Emergency Diesel Generator rating. The
Emergency Diesel Generator shall provide power supply for the emergency
loads of the facility during mains failure.

3.2 Ambiant Air Température

 Maximum 50º C

 Minimum 0º C

 Air Conditioned Area 200C

 Designed Humidity – 85 to 90 %

5.0 CALCULATON REQUIREMENT

5.1 Design Criteria

 The Emergency Genset shall provide power supply to 400V Emergency

Switchgear to cater all of the emergency loads. EDG shall be sized to feed
100% capacity of the total peak load of 400V Emergency Switchgear + Design
Margin. The 400V Emergency Switchgear load Shall be as per Load List.

 The Emergency Genset shall also have capable to start the largest
Motor in 400V Emergency Switchgear. Fire Water Motor Driven Pump
P-501A of 90 kW is the largest motor to be started on the Emergency Diesel
Generator.

 Design Margin of 10% is considered for Genset Sizing.

5.2 Load Requirement

 The peak load is taken from daulatpur depot load list.

6 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT

6.1 Methodology

The Emergency Genset shall be sized to meet the following conditions:

 Peak load + design margin during emergency condition.

 Capability to provide power supply for starting of the largest motor in the
system when all other emergency loads are running.
 During the starting of the largest motor in the system, the Emergency Genset
shall be able to maintain the voltage drop at motor terminal within 20% of the
nominal voltage.
 Design Margin of 10% is considered for Genset Sizing.

6.2 Assumption and data

 The largest motor fed by 400V Emergency Switchgear is Motor Driven

Pump P501A with the below detail data:

 - Rated power: 90 kW
 - Efficiency: 0.94
 - Power factor: 0.88
