KORG USB-SCSI Storage Driver Installation

If your computer is equipped with a USB port and is running Windows 98, then using the
KORG USB-SCSI Storage Driver will allow you to use your computer to backup the data
in your KORG equipment connected to the USB port. This section will explain how to
install the KORG USB-SCSI Storage Driver. Please refer to User's Manual of your
KORG equipment about how to backup data after the installation.

• Driver installation is not required for Windows Me/2000/XP.

n Installing the KORG USB Driver into Windows 98

1. Turn on your KORG equipment, connect it to your computer with a USB cable, then
navigate to the "USB StorageMode" or "USB comm" page.
Please refer to User's Manual of your KORG equipment about this operation.

2. The computer
will detect the
new device and
"Add New
Hardware
Wizard" will
appear.
The name of
detected
equipment will
be shown in the
window (in this
example, D1200
is shown).

To install the
WDM Driver,
click Next.
3. In response to
the question
What do you
want Windows to
do?, select
Search for the
best driver for
your device and
click Next.

4. If the driver is
on a floppy disk,
select Floppy
disk drives.
If the driver is in
a folder on the
hard disk drive,
select Specify a
location and
type the folder
name, or press
Browse... button.
5. The driver
(KORG USB-
SCSI Storage
WDM Driver)
will be detected.
Click Next.

6. The WDM
Driver will be
installed. Click
Finish.

7. VXD installation will start automatically, and it will take a while.


When the installation is complete, a new drive or disk will be added in "My
Computer".
If you haven't installed the KORG USB-SCSI Storage Driver before, this concludes the
driver installation. To remove your KORG equipment from the computer, click here
for the explanation.
If you have installed an older version of KORG USB-SCSI Storage Driver before, and
want to replace the older version with this new version, DO NOT remove your KORG
equipment from the computer, and continue the procedure below.
To replace the older version of KORG USB-SCSI Storage Driver with this new
version, follow the procedure below.
8. After the driver
installation, you
will need to
restart your
computer.
Press Yes to
restart.
9. After restarting,
open the
Control Panel
window (Start -
> Settings ->
Control Panel),
and double click
on the System
icon.
When the
System
Properties
window opens
up, select the
Device Manager
tab, confirm that
"!" is shown on
the KORG USB-
SCSI Storage
WDM Driver
icon, and press
Properties.
10. KORG USB-
SCSI Storage
WDM Driver
Properties
window will
open up. Press
the Update
Driver button.

11. The Update


Device Driver
Wizard window
will appear to
search for new
drivers. Press
Next.
12. Select the way
for the computer
to search for the
new driver.
Select Display a
list of all the
drivers in a
specific
location, so you
can select the
driver you
want., and press
Next.

13. Select the


manufacturer
and model.
To select the
updated driver,
press Have
Disk...

14. Specify the


location of the
driver.
Type in the
folder/path
name directly,
or press
Browse... button
to specify the
folder, and then
press OK.
15. The same
window as in
step #13 will be
shown.
Since the new
driver has
already been
selected, press
Next.

16. The Update Driver Warning message "Windows detects that your current driver may be closer
match for your hardware device than the driver you have selected. Are you sure you want to use the
driver you selected?" will appear. Ignore this warning, and press Yes to update the driver.
17. The driver
(KORG USB-
SCSI Storage
WDM Driver)
will be detected.
Click Next.

18. The WDM


Driver will be
installed. Click
Finish.

19. After the driver


installation, you
will need to
restart your
computer.
Press Yes to
restart.
This concludes
updating the
driver. After
restarting, a new
drive or disk
will be added in
"My
Computer".

n Disconnecting Your KORG Equipment

The procedure for disconnecting the PXR4 from the Windows 98 based computer is
different from that of Windows 2000/Me/XP based computer.
When you use this Windows 98 driver and your equipment is recognized as a removable
disk (i.e. PXR4, etc.), follow all the instructions below.
If your equipment is recognized as a hard disk (i.e. D1200, etc.), proceed directly to step
#3.

1. Right click the "Removable Disk" icon in My Computer or Explorer. Select Eject.
2. Confirm that the PXR4 display shows CdNotRdy.
3. Leave the "USB StorageMode" (D1200) or "USB comm" (PXR4) page and disconnect
the USB cable. Please refer to the User's Manual about this operation.
