LESSON PLAN IN ORAL COMMUNICATION

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the discussion, 100% of the students with at least 75% level of
proficiency shall be able to:

Recognizes that communicative competence requires understanding of speech context focusing on the
INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION ((EN11/12OC-Ifj-15)

B. Motivational Activity

INTRAPERSONAL VS. INTERPERSONAL

 The class will be divided into four groups.


 The teacher will provide phrases about INTRAPERSONAL and INTERPERSONAL
SKILLS to the students. The students will determine whether it is interpersonal or
intrapersonal and they will place it to the right place on the board.

Phrases to be given to students:

I can sense the moods and feelings of others.


I work best when interacting with people.
I enjoy team sports rather than individual sports.
I can sort out arguments between friends.
I prefer group activities rather than ones I do alone.
I enjoy learning about different cultures.
I enjoy social events like parties.
I enjoy sharing my ideas and feelings with others.
I know myself well.
I have a few close friends.
I have strong opinions about controversial issues.
I work best when the activity is self-paced.
I am not easily influenced by other people.
I have a good understanding of my feelings and how I will react to situations.
I often raise questions concerning values and beliefs.

information through verbal and non-verbal messages.

Four Principles of Interpersonal Communication

1. It’s Inescapable: You cannot NOT communicate. Even your body sends a
message when you are silent.
2. Its Irreversible: Once you’ve said something (verbally or non- verbally), it’s out
there. You can’t reword it or ask to take it back.
3. It’s Complicated: Words are actually symbols, given different meaning by different
people in different circumstances.
4. It’s Contextual: Psychological, cultural, situational, rational and environmental.
When and where you speak will have a bearing on the meaning of your message and
how it is received.

may pass this ahead
b. Blind Area- The individual ignores comments about them from others
c. Facade Self- The individual feels the trait is not important for others to know in
current context.

Effective Interpersonal Communication

1. Transparency- Information must be shared upward, downward, and laterally.
