Universal Design for Learning (UDL):


The students are being engaged in a worthwhile task that is creative, visual, auditory and most importantly
hands on. The activity is through a website that has interactive boards where students will explore what the
material was about during the lesson. It is easily accessible and has multiple components that are helpful
towards differentiation and engages the student. The website will have multiple videos that are placed to
hook students so that they will willingly explore the interactive board. The representation is organized and has
vibrant colors and links throughout the board. There are many tabs for the student to explore. The students
will be asked to create their own board after they have viewed the teacher’s.
Lesson idea implementation:
I will begin by showing the Discovery Education website. Then the interactive board I created will be
presented to them. I will demonstrate how to use the interactive board then encourage them to explore the
videos. The students can choose to take notes on the material provided. I will encourage them to take noes
because I would explain to them that I will be asking questions at the end of the day. Especially questions
regarding the standard for example details on the planets and information about the order. (Clarification
statement: Composition of planets is limited to rocky vs. gaseous.) After the students collect information, they
will be asked to create their own board through Discovery Education website.
This activity will take a full class period. The students would have had plenty of time to finish their display of
information. This project integrates differentiation, because it allows students to choose what they add to
their board. They will be using their own personal learning preferences. They will be provided with hands on,
visual and auditory resources for learning. They will have a ticket out the door of what they learned thus far
about space.

Reflective Practice:
The activity is a fun way for students to show how they can take notes without the traditional paper and
pencil. The students will be able to display their information in an organized, creative way. The main objective
will be what they learned about space, stars, and planets. After this activity to further learn more the students

can partner up and look between both their boards to make a graphic organizer to show the difference
between planets and stars. After this I can gather everyone’s information and make a class graphic organizer
to display for everyone.
