How do we use verb 1 in positive and negative sentence?

Use of the Simple Present Tense


1. To express general time
For example : The sun rises in the east and sets in the west
2. To express present time
For example : He is an intelligent man (present tense using be)
3. With verbs of saying and telling
For example : She says that she cannot come tonight
4. For stage directions
For example : Ana walks to the window and waves good-bye to her departing guests

Use of the Simple Past Tense
- One event completed in the past
For example : I saw him last morning

(-) She didn’t buy a book yesterday
(?) Did She buy a book yesterday

(+) We watched film last night


(-) We didn’t watch film last night

How do we use verb 3 in positive and negative sentence?
Use of the Present Perfect Tense
1. Actual past-to-present time. An actual even starts in the past and continues up in the present
For example : He has worked in the same company for ten years
2. Psychological past-to-present time. The time exists only in the mind of the speaker. It is the
time of statement itself, not the time of an actual event, that extends up to the present.
For example : The critics has praised the author
