DETAILED LESSON PLAN

IN
GRADE 7- DRAFTING

I. OBJECTVES:
At the end of a 60 mins. (1 hour ) class time, the students should be able to:
a. define the word color,
b. differentiate Brewster-Newton Theory to Young-Hemholtz Theory;
c. embrace the value of Color.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

A. Topic:
COLOR AND ITS THEORIES
B. Reference:
Exploratory Drafting pages 97
C. Materials:
Visual aids, laptop, projector

III. PROCEDURE:
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNERS’ ACTIVITY

A. ACTIVITY
-Prayer
-Greetings
-Checking of attendance
-Room conditioning

 MOTIVATION

So class, I placed pictures on the board. Take a

look to these pictures. What can you say?
Sir, based on the pictures flashed on the
board, I can see and observe a single object
with different colors.

B. ANALYSIS

 PRESENTATION

Okay very good! Now based on these pictures,

what do you think is our topic for today? Anyone
from the class?
Sir based on those pictures our lesson for
today is all about colors.

 DISCUSSION

Very good. So our topic for today is all about

Colors. So, are you now ready to venture the
world of colors class? Yes sir, we are excited.

If that so, you sit properly, lend me your ears

and your eyes and you focus on me as I tour you
in the world of Colors. Yes, Sir.

Colors are everywhere, right?

Yes, Sir

Where ever you go and where ever you are,

Color exist, Am I right class?
Yes, Sir.
Whether you are in the Mountain or even near
the sea shore, color exists.

Now who can give me a definition of color?

Students will give various answers.

Very good class! So when we say colors these

are the way we describe an object. Right class?
Yes, Sir.
For example we define a leaf or leaves by
using color. Anyone from you who wants to
define a leaf based on its color.
Sir, leaves are in color green.
Okay, very good! What else?
Leaves can also be in color yellow.
Yes some are also in color yellow. Some are
also in color brown, right?
Yes, sir.
How about describing the color of a flower?
Sir, we define flowers by its color in red,
blue, green and pink.
Very good so color then is also for aesthetic
purposes.
Yes it is, sir.
Now we proceed to the two basic theories of
color.

First one is Brewster-Newton Theory. Kindly

read the definition flashed on the board.
The Fundamental Color of Brewster-
Newton Theory re red, yellow and blue.

Thank you. So under Brewster-Newton Theory

the basic colors are red, yellow and blue.

On the other hand its Secondary Colors are

orange, green and violet. So class do you have an
idea how did we get these Secondary Colors?
Sir Secondary Colors are the results when
we mix the primary colors.
Very good. So secondary Colors are actually
the sum of two primary colors. How about
tertiary colors, how can we get them?
Tertiary Colors are the sum of the
Primary and Secondary colors or vice-
versa.
Very good! So any question about Brewster-
Newton Theory?
None, sir.
So let’s proceed to the second Theory which is
the Young-Hemholtz Theory. Who wants to read
the definition of it which is flashed on the board?
Teaches us that the Primary colors are
red, green and violet.
So its primary colors are red, green, violet not
unlike to the Brewster-Newton Theory, its
primary colors are red, yellow and blue.

However class, the secondary and tertiary

colors of these two theories are just the same. Is
it clear class?
Yes, sir.

C . ABSTRACTION

 GENERALIZATION

What is Color Class?

Very good. How many theories do we have on Color is the way we define object and it
Colors? What are those? is use for aesthetic purposes.

Sir we have two basic theories in Color.

So, what is the difference of the two class? These are the Brewster-Newton Theory and
the Young-Hemholtz Theory.

Under Brewster-Newton Theory its

primary colors are red, yellow and blue
So any question class? while on Young-Hemholtz Theory its
primaries are red, green and violet.

 VALUES INTEGRATION: None,sir.

So class, imagine the world or our lives

without colors. The sky, the mountains, the trees
or even simply on the television we are watching
without colors, just black and white. It is boring
right?
Yes, sir it is.
Same is through in our lives, color is also very
essential because life without colors will also be
boring.

D . APPLICATION

So I will be grouping you class into four. Each

group will be given one picture. And all of the
pictures are the same.

DIRECTIONS:
Each group should color the picture given
within ten minutes. After coloring it, all of the
outputs will be placed on the board and be
judged based on these criteria. Understood class?
Yes sir.

CRITERIA:

Appropriateness of 5 points
Color

Cooperation and 2 points

Participation

Neatness 2 points

Time 1 point

TOTAL: 10 points
IV. EVALUATION

MULTIPLE CHOICE

Directions: In a 10 minutes time, answer the following questions and write the correct answer in
a one-fourth sheet of paper.

1-2 Give two definitions of color based on the discussion.

3-4 Enumerate the two basic Theories of color.

5-7 List down the primary colors of the Brewster-Newton Theory.

8-10 List down the primary colors of the Young-Hemholtz Theory.

V. ASSIGNMENT

A. Follow-Up Assignment

1. Practice mixing colors by using any coloring materials.

B. Advanced Assignment

1. Make an advance reading and research on Color Systems.

2. What are the two Systems of Color?
