ABSTRACT

TITLE Factors Affecting the Reading Proficiency of Grade 6 Learners of


Selected Elementary Schools in District of Tanza Cavite

Year 2019

The study aimed to determine the reading proficiency levels specifically of Grade VI learner

enrolled during the school year 2018–2019 at selected Elementary School in the District of Tanza,

Cavite.

The following null hypothesis was utilized and tested at 0.05 level of significance that there

was no significant difference between the respondents reading proficiency levels skills when

they were grouped according to the respondents assessments on the factors affecting reading

proficiency of grade six learners by gender, mothers educational attainment, fathers educational

attainment , family size and monthly income. Birth order and number of siblings. However there

was a significance difference between the respondent’s assessments on the factors affecting the

reading proficiency skills of grade six when grouped according the age.

The respondents of the study consisted 776 respondents of grade learners with sample

of 264 in the 3 three selected school in the District of Tanza Cavite enrolled for the Academic

Year 2018-2019.
