An Online Information System for Tirona’s Grill and Restaurant

Chapter 1

Introduction

Technology gives a lot of benefits to human. It develops as we live every day. It makes every

people’s life easier. Because of these most of us cannot live without technology. It is way

more convenient than the usual. It takes one click to do everything. A simple tap on your

cellular phones helps us to communicate and interact. You can also have a business online

and earn money continuously.

Website is a must in every business. It helps us provide information to a certain company.

It’s for people who are curious to find out what’s the company about but doesn’t want to

waste time to take have a visit.

1.1 Background of the Study

Tirona’s Grill and Restaurant was established last 2013. It is operating continuously for 6

years until now. It is owned by a Japanese businessman who is based on Japan. He makes a

visit in the restaurant for 2-3 times in a year. The name of the restaurant came from the

highway in Bacoor, Cavite which is Tirona highway. The restaurant is located along that

highway. Even though there’s a famous family name which is Tirona, it’s not connected. The

restaurant started with the first floor, and then after years they have upgraded to second floor.

The restaurant opens at 9am and closes at 3am. The manager said that they are different from

other restaurant for having friendly staffs over the years.

They offer a wide variety of cuisines, Asian Cuisines and Japanese Cuisines. They offer

different Japanese foods like sushi, sashimi, tepanyaki, ramen etc., which ranges from 150 to

500 pesos per order. The Asian Cuisines consists of appetizers like, baked oyster, chicharon,

calamares etc., which ranges to 80 to 300 pesos. Kinilaw dishes like sinigang ranges from

200 to 400 pesos per order. Soup and Vegetables dishes like tinolang manok, chopsuey etc.,

and ranges from 100 to 500 pesos per order. Chicken, pork, & beef dishes, ranges from 150

to 600 pesos. Grilled dishes like Grilled Salmon and others, ranges from 100 to 500 pesos.

They also sell beverages that are alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

The restaurant also has promos, depending on the date. Last Christmas season, they had their

anniversary; they launch the beer all you can for only 399 pesos for every person.

1.2 Overview of the Current State of Technology

Currently, the restaurant is using their Facebook page to give information to people.

Facebook is an American online social media created by Mark Zuckerberg. This platform is

being utilized by most business all over the world, because most people are using it. That is

why the restaurant used the platform to promote their business.

The restaurant promotes their business by posting on this platform. They are posting their

menus and their facilities, in order to let the people know how the restaurant looks like, and

what do they offer. They also let the customer post a review after eating, so that people who

are looking for restaurants may expect what to feel with the restaurant’s atmosphere and

definitely expect the taste of the dish.

Using this platform will only let you post something that is not eye-catching. Even though

it’s free, you need to pay before they promote your page to other Facebook accounts.

However, many of Facebook users don’t really rely on Facebook when it comes to searching

a restaurant. The restaurant has a lot of competitors in real world and in this platform. It will

be hard to call the attention of the customers. With less strategy of marketing, there will be

fewer customers.

Aside from the use of Facebook application, they also have tarpaulins found outside of the

restaurant. In order to catch attention from the passerby and since it is along the highway,

there is a high chance for the restaurant to be noticed. However, not all people will focus on

the things written in the tarpaulin and not all people are passing that highway. It will be better

if there are tarpaulins posted in an area with a lot of people.

1.3 Project Rationale

This project will help the following groups below:

The Restaurant

This will help Tirona’s Grill and Restaurant in their promotion in the World Wide Web. The

customers can focus on the information that will be provided in the Website. The restaurant

will be one of the greatest establishments. It will be easier to inform customers about their

promos and their history. They can also personalize the website itself, according to their

theme.

The Future Researchers

The future researchers can benefit from our study, from our gathered ideas and information

about the restaurant. They can have the information they need about the restaurant for their

research. They will have less time to research.

The Proponents

The proponents will learn how to solve a problem of a company from the data gathered, by

using a website. This study practices our skills and lets us experience. It gives us knowledge

on the basics of creating a website that can be useful for our future jobs.
