Lesson Plan in English 7

I. Learning Objectives

At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:

a. understand the usage of simple present tense;


b. use correctly the simple present tense in written and spoken language, and
c. show realization of the importance of using simple present tense in daily conversation.

III. Procedure

A. Classroom Management

2. Checking of attendance

B. Review
Ask the class about the previous lesson.
What have they learned from the previous lesson?
Ask the students if they really understand the past lesson.
Review of the three parts of speech (Noun, pronoun, verbs).

IV. Learning Activities

A. Activity
The teacher will show flashcards showing different words. The students will identify if
the word on the flashcard is noun, pronoun or verb. They will also identify if it is in
singular or plural form.

The teacher will ask the students to share in class their daily routines at home.

B. Analysis
How can we identify if a noun is in singular or plural form?
How can we identify if a verb is in singular or plural form?
What form of the verb do we use in telling our daily routines?
C. Abstraction
Present Tense/ Present Simple Tense

Formulation:
I/You play basketball.
He/She plays…
We/You/They play...

Usage:
1. Regular habits or daily routine
a. I get up early in the morning.
b. Jane brushes her teeth twice a day.
c. I always go to school by bus.

2. Universal or general truth


a. Sun rises in the east.
b. The earth revolves around the sun.
c. The moon shines at night.

3. Facts or things that are always true


a. I live in the Philippines.
b. They speak English at work.
c. She likes ice cream.

4. Fixed or scheduled event


a. The train leaves at 5 p.m.
b. The party starts at 8 o’clock.
c. The class begins at 6 a.m.

V. Application
Choose the correct form of the verb for the following sentences.
1. He (go, goes) to school every day.
2. I (like, likes) swimming.
3. You (play, plays) badminton on Saturdays.
4. The program (start, starts) at 8 a.m.
5. They sometimes (go, goes) to the cinema.
6. She (love, loves) chocolate.
