1. Personal Reaction
The group had a very good voice and delivery while discussing the contents of
the report. They have prepared well before the day of the presentation. They provided a
very good and clear power point presentation. They provided a hard copy of the report
per group which is a good thing.
2. Significant of the studies/ issues and concerns
The reporters discussed about the earth’s structure which consist of crust,
mantle and core. They tackled the topic about the continental drift and its evidences.
They discussed the major tectonic plates and discussed volcanology and volcanic
activities. they explained about the different types of faults.
3. Problem
 What are the causes of volcanic activity?
 Why are there Seven major tectonic plates?
 How true is the Continental drift?
4. Objective
 To be able to know the causes of volcanic activities.
 To learn about the seven major tectonic plates.
 To try and prove that continental drift is true.
5. Time Context
 Mt. Mayon Volcanic eruption started last January 13, 2018
6. Viewpoint
A civil engineer should learn the different topics about engineering geology like the
earth’s structure, continental drift and tectonic plates and learn about the trueness of
the continental drift theory. It is important because the type of earth varies per area
and this are important so that engineers can build a structure that is safe.
7. Courses of Consideration
 Monitor areas around a volcano and its safety
 Gathering evidences of continental drift.
 Learning about engineering geology
8. Alternative courses of action
 Attend seminars that will be about the different topics about engineering
geology.
 Monitor the different volcanic activities
 Further research about the continental drift.
9. Action plan

10. Recommendation
 I strongly recommend that civil engineering students learn about engineering
geology
 It is important that the history of a site be known before construction
 Geological investigation must be given high priority when finding area of
construction.
11. Conclusion
 I therefore conclude that the engineering geology must be given importance
because of the things it can contribute in building a safe structure.
 Areas varies in earth types and that’s why we should learn its history and learn
what type of faults, rocks, boundaries, folds and joints before constructing.
 Tectonic plates are well discussed and it explained the different types and its own
characteristics which helps in deciding what kind of structure must be built in
different areas.
