Lesson Vision: Alignment

TEKS Objective(s):

7.11C – write and solve equations using geometry concepts, SWBAT write and solve equations of angle pairs formed by
including the sum of the angles in a triangle, and angle intersecting lines
relationships. (Supporting)

Key Points:

• The sum of angles within a triangle is equal to 180

degrees
• Complementary angles are two angles who sum is
90 degrees
• Supplementary angles are two angles who sum is
180 degrees
• Isosceles triangles have two congruent sides and
two congruent angles, called base angles
• The third angle is called the vertex angle
• Each triangle has three angles, to determine a
missing angle, add two sides plus x to equal 180
degrees

Accommodations Potential Misconceptions

Vocab flash cards for students with IEP accommodations and Students might think that alternate interior angles are
open notes for quiz portion of lesson only (not ET) always congruent; however they can be congruent if lines
involved are all parallel

Daily Assessment (ET):

Label the diagram with the measures of all three missing angles, x, y, and z.

What is the measure of angle y? Explain your reasoning.

Label the diagram with the measures of all three missing angles, a, b, and c.

What is the measure of angle b? Explain your reasoning.

Answers:

1. 115, 65, 115 ; 65

Exemplar response: The measure for angle y is 65 degrees because angle y is a vertical angle to the labeled angle 65
degrees.

2. 54, 54, 54 ; 54

Exemplar response: The measure for angle b is 54 degrees because angle b is a corresponding angle to the labeled angle
54 degrees.
