STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

My name is Nitu Rani Markande. I reside at Dhurkot, Barnala. I was born on 11/10/1998. I have
nuclear family. There are four members in my family that is my parents and my one sibling. My
father is a farmer, my mother is a homemaker, my elder brother is doing Masters of Computer
and along with her studies she is taking tuition classes.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND

I have completed my senior secondary education from Govt. Senior Secondary school Pakho in
2016 in Non-Medical Stream. I have completed my matriculation in 2014 from Sant Baba
Longpuri Adarsh senior secondary School Pakho both my 10th and 10+2 is from PSEB.

Why Certificate IV in work health and safety and DIPLOMA in Work Health and Safety

After completion of senior secondary in non-medical, I have two options either to go for
engineering related study or in health services. I can opt for Health services. Since, I wanted to
be careful and do not want to commit any mistake related to my career, hence I did extensive
research on the career options available in the area. I found if I opt for B.Sc., I need to complete
M.sc that would take at least five years after three years bachelor degree before I can expect
good job and returns. Else after B.Sc. my salary is going to be in the range of 8-12 thousand per
month and even opportunities are less. On the other hand there is ample of opportunities in the
field of health and safety as there is acute need of workers all over the world in this field as well
in my own country. During this research, I found that Ludhiana and Jalandhar – two of the major
cities adjoining my hometown hold many opportunities. Both the cities are industrial, medical
and educational hub of the northern part of the country. As they are the major cities there are
plenty of Hospitals and multi-specialty clinics along with plenty of multinational companies
where it would be much easier for me to get a good job. And on top of it if I complete my studies
from abroad it also hold major factor in getting top job. I feel it will be very much adequate for
me to get a good job at these places. Considering such a great scope of the health management
sector, I have decided to have a career in work health and safety. This made me to choose
Diploma of Work Health and Safety from Kingdom Institute of Management. The course not
only has wider scope as compared to B.Sc. or M.Sc. but the returns are also very high.

Course Benefits

Workplace health and safety is a uniquely important subject - it is both relevant and a key
priority in every business and organization in the world. Across public and private sectors alike,
employers are required by law to make employee health and safety their number-one priority.

I will learn Implement and support the WHS management system. Prepare and advise workplace
personnel for dealing with WHS issues. Understand WHS legislative requirements and assist
with monitoring workplace compliance. Implement WHS initiatives and processes that support
organizational WHS goals. Apply knowledge of risk assessment to contribute to the selection of
risk-assessment techniques, tools and processes for common hazards. Contribute to setting up
and running of WHS consultation and participation processes. Regardless of where you choose
to work, a strong understanding of workplace health and safety will always give you an edge
over the competition. It is one of the few subjects that are universally relevant to every business
and organization bar none. Employers always respond kindly to those who demonstrate their
commitment to both the business and their own continuous-improvement. Those who understand
workplace health and safety are naturally in a better position to contribute to the overall health
and safety culture of their own workplace. It is therefore a valid and valuable subject for all
employees, including those who do not work directly in a health and safety capacity. Anyone
working in a management role is required by law to have a strong understanding of workplace
health and safety legislation. As such, those interesting in moving up to a management position

types of business. There are many organizations in my area like Jagjit Industries, GB Tools,
Nivea, Spartan, Fortis Hospitals Chain, DMC, CMC and many more multinational places. As
work health and safety is required in each and every facet of any workplace it is easier to find a

in the companies I have mentioned in the previous paragraph. I am very sure that the
international qualification and exposure will give me an edge over my competitors and assist me
to secure high paying jobs in the renowned organizations with a great ease.

WHY NOT INDIA:-

Undoubtedly, number of public and private sector institutes offer these course in India. However,
there is no use of having degree from the local institute. As you need to move out of your home
the cost is almost the same as studying in other country. Further there is huge gap in what is
taught in the educational institutes and industry standards that makes it difficult to secure the job.

WHY AUSTRALIA:-

Though Australia was not in my list, I was more inclined to wards the USA and Canada On the
other hand, unlike India, education from western world not only offer quality education but stress
is laid on learning the concepts rather than cramming the theories. This system of education
bring the best out of the student and help him to develop the problem solving skills and makes
the smooth transition possible from the student to an efficient employee.

In addition to quality education, the assurance from the Federal government about the safe
investment in the form of ESOS act prompted me to seek admission in Australia which is absent
in the countries like UK where once the college is closed student has to suffer where as in
Australia, government ensures that in such cases the student is shifted to another institute to
complete his remaining studies.

Though Canada offers the quality education at a lower cost than Australia but extreme climatic
conditions deterred me to opt for Canada.

Moreover, Australia has become a better study option for all the international students by
facilitating good international exposure, a diverse cultural interaction and a strong statement for
one’s CV. The country boasts of a number of high ranking universities in the world offering a
number of high quality popular courses. Foreign students mean good income for the
government; hence the latter takes keen interest in education sector of the nation. Therefore,
we expect good governance for these institutes of higher learning. With my student visa, I
would also be able to work part time and earn, depending on what kind of job it is. I may also
work full time during vacations and earn some more. This extra money can help me save and
also take care of my living expenses to some extent. Rest All the expenses regarding my
education fee, living expenses and other expenses can be easily covered by my family members.
My family has always supported me as pillar to my decision and my career.

Above all, it is a beautiful country, so once in a while you can take a break and travel to all the
beach destinations that Australia is so famous for. The country has a strong Asian community
presence so I don’t think I will ever miss speaking my mother tongue or eating familiar food.

OPPORTUNITY IN INDIA:-

As stated earlier there are number of multinational companies in the area where I live. In
addition, the liberal policies of the government on Foreign Direct Investment is inviting many
foreign brands to open their ventures in India. The successful completion of this course will
assist me to easily get hired in the supervisory positions in these companies like Bharti Wallmart,
GB tools, Jagjit Industries, Nivea Sports, Syndicate sports etc. Work health and safety skills are
also highly desirable and useful in professions such as management or human resources, or can
be used in nearly any role in any industry where health and safety is important. Health and safety
advisors are employed by many public and private sector organizations, including hospitals,
hotels, restaurants, local authorities, construction or engineering companies, colleges,
universities, police forces, the defense forces, food processing and packaging plants, mining
companies, oil and gas companies, manufacturers, government departments and large private
companies.

WHY CHOOSE THIS COLLEGE:-

After I decided to choose Australia as my study destination, I was bombarded with number of
options. Federation University, Victoria University, RMIT, was few that offered the course of my
choice but fee range was very high. That is why I decided to first go for Certificate Course and
Advance Diploma in this college and later on complete my bachelor from some university. Apart
from the recommendation of my consultant, I have got good reviews. The staff of Kingdom
College is well qualified. Curriculum is up to-date and meets the industry requirements. In
addition, college offer excellent student support services that include welfare and learning
support. Further it is situated within the city limits.

As far as cost of my education is concerned, my father has 13lakhs in his account and earns a
good amount annually and he can very well financially pay for my cost of education during my
stay in Australia. Moreover, my sister who is taking tuitions can supplement my father’s income
in supporting me.

To conclude, I believe that this decision of mine to pursue my studies in Australia will prove to
be a turning point that will shape my future. It will help me to realize my career goals
