- In case of abnormal condition, Check the hour meter and U.V. monitor, UV ballast.
4) Stop
- System stop using control panel's switch (Push button switch or selector switch)
6. Installation
7. Maintenance.
It is said that it's average life is generally for about 9,000 hours when all days used and in this case the
100% of sterilizing power will be decreased, even though it is very dangerous to see the light with your
naked eyes when the new replacement, and it is always covered with paper or use any kind of glasses.
④ Dirtiness of germicidal lamp surface
As to decrease the sterilizing effect, it is at least, to clean with soft dry cloth every six months and for
new replacement, should be clean before set-in.
DON’T PRESSURE TOO MUCH WHEN ASSEMBLING THE GLAND FITTINGS, SINCE
IT’S VERY SENSITIVE PART TO BE BROKEN EASILY.
* Check
1. When the abnormal alarm is occurred or UV monitor has problem, please check the UV lamp condition. (Check the
UV lamp and cleanliness state of the Quartz sleeve)
2. If the UV lamps have problem, please change the UV lamps.
If the UV lamps have problem after replacement, check the ballast.
3. If the UV lamps and ballast are normal condition, check the leakage on inside of UV sensor socket.
4. The condition of abnormal occurrence is as below.
- Bad UV lamps and dirty quartz sleeves
- Bad UV lamps operation caused by bad ballast
- UV Sensor has problem caused by leakage in sensor socket.
- Above this,
early operation, After UV lamps replacement and sudden change of environmental temperature.
U.V.STERILIZER HAS VERY FRAGILE COMPONENTS LIKE U.V. LAMP AND QUARTZ
SLEEVE. PAY ATTENTION A LOT WHEN YOU USE IT.

1. Preface
In the galley, every time hot water is needed, this instrument is proper in that’s circumstance and this
instrument is used by shower, cooking, feeding etc.
Calorifiers supplied for ship are specially designed to cater for the more stringent mechanical and
corrosion conditions, which pertain.
The present high performance of hot water. Calorifier has been possible by the continual improvement
to the design.
- This manual gives detailed advice for installation and should be read carefully prior to fitting unit.
Where components are supplied only for indirect units, this is clearly shown. Installation of unit must
comply with Building Regulations.
- In order to obtain maximum benefit from using this Calorifier, inspect for damage (i.e.: dent, loose,
broken parts) during installing.
- User must be read this manual through, and obey contents of this manual.
- Maintenance procedure must be done periodically.
1-3-1. Warning
- Please note that the manufacturers guarantee will be void if faults arise due to the excessive build up
of scale.
- Please note this safety feature will not operate until the Calorifier has cooled down sufficiently.
- In the event of the Calorifier being accidentally allowed to boil dry, the Calorifier should be allowed
to cool down before refilling with water.
1-3-2. Safety
- It is dangerous to drape towels or cloths over the Calorifier obstructing the vent hole in the
Calorifier lid.
- Care should be taken when removing the lid to avoid possible injury from steam.
- The appliance must be earthed.
2. Operating instruction
- Confirm that the tank and pipeline are filled with water.
- The electric heater designed for water heating will be broken in several minutes when electrified in
the air.
- Open the valves in fresh water and hot water line as necessary.
- In circulating system, start the hot water circulating pump also.
- Then, after confirming the setting point of thermostat to be at adequate temperature, turn the switch
of electric source on, and push the start button on the control panel.
- When operating manual, turn the auto - off – man selector switch to the manual position.
- It is important for hot water temperature not to exceed 80 degrees in Celsius, since the thermostat is
not in operation at manual condition.
- To stop the operation push the off – button on the control panel or set the auto, - off – man.
- Switch at off – position, stop the hot water circulation pump, and turn off electric source.
3. Function
(1) Thermostat
The accuracy of temperature control depends on the choice of thermostat and the switching
arrangement for the heaters. There may be a series in the cylinder or set at different temperatures to
operate at various stages of heating.
(2) Thermometer
The thermometer is located near the top of a storage calorifier to measure the temperature of water
reaching the outlet.
The control thermostat is normally lower down to activate the heater before all the hot water has
been drawn off.
Dial type thermostats can be ordered to indicate the temperature at control levels.
(3) Relief valve
An automatic pressure relieving device actuated by the static pressure upstream of the valve, which
opens in proportion to exceeding pressure compare with opening pressure.
It is used primarily for liquid service.
(4) Supports
Practically all calorifiers have their legs or cradles permanently fixed to the shell before delivery.
This is to assist handling and to offer greater protection against damage, particularly when the
control panel is attached.
(5) Insulation
Adequate thermal insulation is essential to prevent heat losses from storage calorifiers, which may
be standing for many hours at working temperature.
Lagging consists is fitted before delivery and abides risk of damage to the control panel or cables
due to attempts to the normally insulate the equipment on site.
(6) Control panel
Wiring between the sensors, the heaters and the control panel is carried out before delivery from
the factory. Connections between the heaters and control panel use magnetic contractor.
A neutral link is always included and earth leakage protection to the panel can be fitted if specified.
The control circuit normally uses line to neutral supply voltage but a transformer can be fitted for a
different control voltage. Individual fuses sub-circuits are included for the heater assembly, with
high rupturing capacity fuses that are easily replaced. The control circuits are also fused. All panels
have a heater on indicator lamp and selector switch for man/off/auto settings. The test circuit
allows each stage to be checked for operation with the switching contractor in coifed position.
The standard control panel enclose is fabricated from sheet steel which is stove enameled.
Wiring diagrams covering the complete package systems are enclosed with the panel together with
data on cable size selection.
4. Operating method
4-1. Maintenance
The scale on the heating-element has to be removed regularly. Just perform the next handlings:
Regular inspection must be once in every two months.
Sections of checking are relief of safety valve, pressure gauge, electric heater, control panel,
thermostat, and these parts are checked to be operated, smoothly.
