 Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION

Point of Sale is a system now used in all business establishments like, Mcdo, KFC, Etc. The

growth of technology is simultaneously with the growth of a variety of system software that is

really beneficial. With the software we make, we make sure that it has good benefits to our

company. A point of sale inventory management system allows a business owner to have more

than one business location and adequately keep track of inventory at each without being present.

No more worries about employee theft or pricing inconsistency between one location and

another. And now point of sale will make the job easier, work time will be reduced, and more

importantly doing the reporting, and counting revenue and inventory items.

PROJECT CONTEXT

The Anarch Pharmacy and General Merchandise was establish on December 10, 2010. It was
owned by anisetta chua and managed by Alvin Chua. The drugstore is open from Sunday to
Friday, 8:00 am to 9:00 pm and located at # 1 Ofelia Street. Corner road 20 project 8, quezon
city.

Anarch Pharmacy and General Merchandise uses manual daily business processes, establishment
is small, and receipts are also manually written on small paper. Counting inventory and drug
inventory is also manual, so many times are wasted, and it is simply listed in the log book. In this
process there are many problems, such as time, human error, data redundancy, and data loss. And
data integrity can anyone access and manipulate the list.

The proponents aim to develop a Point of Sales System for Generic Saves Drug Store for
accurate and faster transactions such as purchasing of products and generating sales report. The
proposed system will use for marking product’s price.
PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION

Information system is developed to help business to run smoothly and accurately. These systems
are easily to use that even a non-technical person user can manipulate it. The proponents
therefore aim to implement an automated system from the manual process of Anarch Pharmacy
and General Merchandise. Point of Sales System will help the company to maintain and track
records of the counter sales, purchases, reorder levels, supplier and customer monetary positions
and other transactions done in counter.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

The objective of the project is to help the company run their business smoothly and quickly, and
it consists of two parts: General Objectives and Specific Objectives.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

The general objective of the system is to develop the Point of Sales and Inventory Management
for Anarch Pharmacy and General Merchandise.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE

To ensure the successful development of this project, the proponents must work on the following

specific objectives:

 Develop a module that will monitor the critical level stock.

 Develop a module that will record all products information.

 Develop a module that will be effective in payment transaction.

 Develop a module that will used for Barcode scanning.

 Develop a module that will generate the sales report quarterly and Annually.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The proposed Point of Sales System for Generic Saves Drug Store will cover recording of

product information, monitoring the critical level of stocks, make easier and faster payment

transaction using barcode scanner and generate sales reports every quarterly and yearly.

The product return from owner to supplier, pending orders from supplier transactions, customer

discounts and generating inventory reports.

The limitation of this project is that the Point of Sales System would not allow credit card

payments and processing any sales transaction online.
