Maichew stands at about 3000 meters above sea level and is surrounded on most sides by high
mountains. This means that the climate is nearly always pleasant, even in the hot season from
around November to March when daytime temperatures can reach 28oC. Because of its altitude it
has cool air, and at night it is necessary to use a couple of blankets.
Maichew is a beautiful mountainous town with moderate and pleasant climate. The people of
maichew ( Raya ) has also a beautiful culture and traditions.

It was started as a Technical School in 1991, in Mekele (Capital of Tigray Riginal State).
In 1996 the School was moved to its present modern and well equiped campus site in Maichew.
