CHAPTER I
Introduction
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader”. English is a universal language that should learn by
everybody. Reading is not just for acquiring knowledge; it will help everyone to build
vocabulary and range in English too. English is an important aspect in terms of studying to easily

These learners may be good at learning other skills but, when it comes to the skill of
learning another language, they claim to have a “mental block” against it (Horwitz, et.al 1986).
In many cases students’ feeling of stress, anxiety or nervousness may impede their language
As a whole, this research wants to help the students to overcome their fear over English
anxiety. Being able to track their weakness is through a survey of their own skill in English.
Therefore, each student will improve the skills in this subject and to conquer their fear.
