What can I do if I think I have lost my bank card?

There is a chance that all of us at some point will have the horror of losing their bank card. The first
thing that you are likely to do is panic, however, you need to try your best to stay calm and think
about things sensibly.

The absolute first thing that you should do is speak to your card issuer or bank. They can then set up a
stop on that particular card and make sure that no-one can use it to spend on. They will then issue
you with a new card (this usually comes in the next day or two) that you can replace your old card
with and then use.

You should also keep an eye on your bank accounts or credit accounts, check whether or not there
has been any spending that you do not recognise and then report this to your bank or your credit
agency. If you’re really concerned, think about signing up for Protective Registration, which puts a
marker on your Cifas credit file to warn potential lenders that there needs to be more identity
verification.
