Convicted criminal
McCarthy’s denials came 24
hours after he appeared on
the BBC Radio 4’s series Law
In Action.
He is currently the Belfast
co-ordinator for Community
Met Your Mother.
They have already offered Britney

show and also believe they could build
an entirely fresh show around her.
A senior executive said: “We were
impressed by her professional
approach. She joined us with a really
terrific work ethic.”

day World yesterday from his
hideaway address some-
where in the UK that he was
“disgusted’’ that the BBC
had given McCarthy air time
on the radio.
Convicted
“All it describes him as is a
‘former republican prisoner’.
It makes no mention of the
fact he is a convicted crimi-
nal and was jailed in 1977 for
five years for possession of
guns and ammunition.
“In my complaint, I have
said that the programme was
badly researched and it
made no mention of the fact
that McCarthy had abducted
me on August 8, 1991.
“I have said if they had
done proper research they
would have found that
(16) is already a star of high school
series Zoey 101 and the CBS executive
said: “It would be a terrific coup to get
them working on the same show.”
Meanwhile, Madonna revealed in an
interview with the Los Angeles based
Yo on E! satellite radio show, she and
daughter Lourdes are still big fans of
the fallen singer, adding: “For real, we’d
love to save her.”

lic to deny he was an
informer.
They both said they had
gone public after they
received visits from the PSNI
to say they were to be outed
as informants.
“I think this was a stunt by
Sinn Fein. They are under so
much pressure over the mur-
der of ‘Bap’ McGreevy,” said
McGartland.
“After Roy McShane, Sinn
Fein don’t need any more
IRA men being exposed.”

SINN Fein took another
blow this week when a life
long party faithful walked
out and joined the 32 Coun-
ty Sovereignty.
Seamus Breslin has been
a dedicated and committed
member of Sinn Fein for
over 50 years.
This week he made the
painful decision to walk
away in disgust from the
movement he dedicated his
life to.
Despite backing Sinn
Fein’s controversial deci-
sion to endorse policing
and even speaking up in
support at the Ard Fheis,
Breslin says he has been
battling his conscience
ever since.
The Derry man was
interned alongside Martin
Meehan and was a personal
friend of Deputy First Min-
ister Martin McGuinness
all his life.
He is widely held as one
of the leading lights in Der-
ry and was delegated by
Sinn Fein to deal with anti-
social behaviour in the
greater Shantallow area.
He engineered the elec-
tion success of Sinn Fein
councillors Maeve
McLaughlin and Tony Has-
san.
A source close to Breslin
last night revealed that the
Derry man believes that
Sinn Fein misled their loyal
supporters.
“Like lots of other people
he was talked into support-
ing policing when it went
against everything in him.
He was just very loyal like
so many others and now I
suppose he can’t live with
the decision,’’ he said.
Respect
“He was very well got in
the community. He was
Sinn Fein’s main guy in
Shantallow. He had the
respect of the whole com-
munity and this will be a
massive blow to Sinn Fein.
Breslin’s joined the 32
County Sovereign Move-
ment and laid their wreath
at an Easter Monday com-
memoration in Derry.
The 32 CSM is made up
largely of ex Sinn Fein
members who left the party
with concern for the direc-
tion it was taking.
The organisation states
on its website that those
former Sinn Fein members
were “advised to keep qui-
et about their concerns and
others were simply
expelled from SF with no
real explanation”.

pub, or anyone in it.
