Question: Have any assessments been made or given around the potential financial impact of
international visa processing for potential ITP students in the 2019 year and if so, when, by
whom and what financial figures have been mentioned ?
Reply: I have not received any assessments of the potential financial impact of international visa
processing for potential ITP students in the 2019 year. I have received briefings from both
Education New Zealand and Immigration New Zealand on issues related to visa processing. One
of these included as an appendix a letter dated 12 March 2019 from Mr Tony Gray, Chief
Executive of Ara Institute of Technology, to Immigration New Zealand which claimed that the
potential loss of revenue to ITPs for visa applications submitted to Immigration New Zealand’s
offshore branches for the period from October 2018 to 31 January 2019 is $33.36 million.
