CALCULATION OF TRAFFIC FOR DESIGN (AS PER IRC : 37 - 2012)

N= 365 x [( 1 r)
n
1] x A x D x F
r
N = The cumulative number of standard axles to be catered for in the
design P = Numbers of commercial vehicles

A = Initial traffic, in the year of completion of construction in terms of the number of commercial vehicles per day dully
modified to account for lane distribution.

D = Lane distribution factor as explained (in %).

r = Annual growth rate of commercial vehicles in percentage (%)
n = Design life in years
y = Numbers of years between the last count and the year of completion of construction.
F = Vehicles damage factor (number of standard axles per commercial vehicle).

SHALKIA - CHANDITALA ROAD 7.200 KMP TO 12.000 KMP

Total Numbers of commercial vehicles (P) =2151 nos./day

Considering Design life n = 15 yrs. & Period of construction y = 1 yr.

Note:
D = Lane distribution factor for 5.50m wide Intermediate Lane = 1 ;
For S.H-15, Annual growth rate of commercial vehicles (r) = 5.0%
Design life (n) = 15 years (considered for base & sub-base layer)
Design life (n) = 5 years (considered for Bituminous binder course & wearing course)
Numbers of years between the last count and the year of completion of construction (y) = 1 year
(considered) F = Vehicles damage factor for initial traffic in More than 1500 cv/day = 4.5
