Nandagopal Charitable trust.

Executive summary:
Nandagopal Charitable trust is an organisation that has been working in South Gujarat for last
21 years and involved in several projects emphasising women development. They have been
successful over the years in formation of women self-help groups, Mahila Mandal and have
strong penetration within the community. The trust recently received a project dealing with
prevention of HIV/AIDS in south Gujarat. However, the project has been challenging for Mr.
Shah (CEO of NCT) and Project manager Mr. Malik in terms of implementation of the
objectives. There has been identification of high-risk groups those are HBSW and CSW,
truckers, male migrant workers and adolescents. The objective is to create awareness for safe
sex through programs like peer to peer learning, behavioural change workshops, appropriate
marketing and promotions of condom and increased usage of condoms though the
installation of vending machine could not create much of an impact on condom sales.

Situation Analysis:
The central issue here for Mr. Shah and Mr. Malik is to bring about a behavioural change
associated with consumption of condoms and remove misconceptions attached with the
usage of condoms.

Problem Statement:
The major barriers to usage of condoms and benefits of using condoms. The objective
achievement steps by the organisation.

Decision making criteria:

 Stigma attached with the usage of condoms. The so-called bias of individual relating to
pleasure.
 Lack of awareness and misinformation associated with the sex industry as it is mainly
small group or individually managed.
 Lack of reach in high risk groups due to their continuous mobility.
 Decline the number of HIV in percentage to population.

Relevant Alternatives:
Alternative 1: The organisation should engage in behavioural change through means of
intimidation and information. The organisation has tried several measures from creating
awareness programs for high risk groups to contact workshops. However, this has not shown
up in the figures of condom sales.
Alternative 2: The organisation should try to incorporate group behavioural changes.
Legalising the sex profession industry. Organising workshop for stakeholders including police
to create the proper mitigation techniques to deal with these cases. Organising monthly health
check-up in slum areas.
Alternative 3: Make female condoms tax free and reduce the price and make it more affordable
to HBSW and CSW.

Evaluation of Alternatives

The organisation should go ahead and choose the 1st alternative. Wherein we engage the
concerned population under fear, uncertainty, and doubt, or FUD, which is often used
legitimately by businesses and organizations to make consumers stop, think, and change their
behaviour.

Implementation Plan

AID is the real threat to the city as it can spread easily and lead to HIV-TB co-infection. So
prevention and mitigation is main concern of organisation through regular health check-up and
use of condom. Major barriers to use of condom is lack of awareness and absolute bias on
individual level. Awareness through intervention in group behaviour characteristic through
tough guidelines and mode of conduct in every group. Condom vending machines are useless
until the utility diminishes the so-called pleasure fact of individual, providing condom free is
not a good option instead the utility and advantages associated should be fed in mind of high
risk group. There is huge knowledge available for benefits but implementation of law shall in
force the use. The organisation shall legalise the sex profession industry. Organising workshop
for stakeholders including police to create the proper mitigation techniques to deal with these
cases. Organising monthly health check-up in slum areas.

Contingency Plan

The organization should try to make major reforms in the sex-based industry as providing free
stuff is not beneficial to economic as well as risk prone people are not using it. Fix rates for
two different modes of conduct one with condom and without it providing lesser monetary
value on earlier part. Form an small group to reach out to migrant workers factory and conduct
sessions.
