Description :

Alice George opted Orion electronics for the role of sales and marketing officer after graduation,
which usually consider as tough for a woman to deal with that up and downs in that role. Even
though her peers and family members are not satisfied with her decision, Alice was quite
comfortable, and she has a more significant understanding of consumer markets. Unlike her male
counterparts, she never hesitated to undertake travel to upcountry markets. Even though she is
quite comfortable with work and traveling to other countries when it comes to the behaviour of her
boss – she felt claustrophobic. Mr.Vijay Sammadar was excellent and always supported her, but it
was too tight which Alice thinks that she is not comfortable with the attitude and she wants to
breathe some fresh air.

When she was in that kind of situation and pushed her thoughts towards a change when she is
offered a role for marketing and sales vice president in Conman Systems she did not hesitate to take
that opportunity as she will be on her own and she will be reporting directly to her vice president
marketing Mr.Khosla. She contributed a lot to the company development by introducing new
strategies in sales, and she made many decisions on her own until company underwent a significant
change at the top level by dropping Mr.khosla and appointing new managing director, Mr. sen to
whom Alice has to report directly. She felt strange at first, but with the attention showed by Mr.sen
towards marketing team, she was quite satisfied.Mr.Sen strategy is to target Business organizations,
which creates a conflict with the ideology of Alice, and she is not happy with that. On top of this,
Mr.sen feels there is some support needed to Alice, and he recruited Manohar Naik as General
Manager, Marketing with exclusive responsibility for the business computing market. Naik had been
seconded to Alice at first, and Alice is not satisfied with the work and attitude of Manohar. She even
had a severe argument with Manohar regarding his wrong approach to boost the sales, which let
down the company values. With these regards, Sen again insisted on bringing a change restructuring
the leading roles, and they asked Alice to take up Vice president role in Public relations stating it
suits her more and Alice left with no other choice. Alice tried to explain, and once she left with no
other choice, she decided to think about it.

Analysis:

One should understand and encourage people irrespective of their Gender. Alice has been facing this
issue even in her previous role, and then she decided to change the company and join conman.
Irrespective their reasons one should not put into a situation where their roles have been reversed
without their concern which was not acceptable because it’s placing an individual into an
uncomfortable zone which looks fine at first and later on it creates issues. There are three things
which we should consider

1. Making decisions without the concern of that particular individual.


2. Attitude and Moral values in the working place.
3. Her inputs are not encouraged.
4. Gender Bias.

With the above three points, it was clear to move on.Even though if she likes to continue, she has to
adjust in her new role and she has to face Mr.Manohar with whom she has not on good terms.
