FABRIC STORE
Fabric storehouse is the place where the fabric for production is receive or
dispatched for processing. In case of garment production once the sample is
approved by the Managing Director, the necessary accessories including the fabric
will be given for the bulk production from the fabric store. But in some cases, the
company will manufacture fabric for the production based on the customer’s
requirement.
Fabric Department
Trims store as the name suggests is a department, which acts as a storehouse for
accessories. It is the place where all the accessories required in a garment industry,
are stored. Right from sewing thread, care labels, needles to packaging material
like poly bags and taps etc. all are stored in the accessories store. After receiving
25
the accessories the Merchandiser prepares a swatch card containing all the
accessories and their quantity in a cycle. These accessories used in the swatch card
are as per the quality and color given by the Managing Director and the designers.
The accessories are stored in different racks. Whenever the production starts the
accessories required in production are issued to the production department by the
production supervisor.
CUTTING DEPARTMENT
The first stage in the garment manufacturing is the cutting of material into the
necessary pattern shapes given by the pattern master. These patterns are joined to
form a garment when large amount of garment style has to be cut, a lay is created,
which consist of many piles of fabric spread one above the other. Now all the
pattern pieces for all sizes are from this lay. The main objective of the cutting dept.
is the cutting of garment parts accurately and economically and in sufficient value
to keep the sewing room supplied with work. With the help of cutting machines,
the fabrics are cut into different pieces and also the cutting department plays a
major role in fabric consumption.

buyer quantity obtained by multiplying two quantities to gather by making use
available resources. The production department is in second floor, and the
company provides 180 sewing machines in the production line.
Sewing Department
After stitching, the garments will be taken to finishing department – a key stage of
garment manufacturing process. Finishing is done to prepare the final garment
according to the quality standards before packing it for shipment. When the
complete garment is packed, a final quality checking will be done i.e., washing
required fabric will be given washing treatment and if necessary re-ironing will be
done and at last it will be given for packing. While packing, the garments are
packed in carton and then sealed and send for shipment.
