Besides classical music India has a rich legacy of folk or popular music. This music represents the
emotion of the masses. The simple songs are composed to mark every event in life. They may be
festivals, advent of a new season, marriage or birth of a child. Rajasthani folk songs such as Mand and
Bhatiali of Bengal are popular all over India. Ragini is a popular form of folk songs of Haryana.
Folk songs have their special meanings or messages. They often describe historical events and important
rituals. Kashmir’s Gulraj is usually a folklore and Pandyani of Madhya Pradesh is a narrative put to music.
Muslims sing Sojkhwani or mournful songs during Muharram and Christmas carols and choral music are
sung in groups on the festive occasions.
Light music
Light music is a generic term applied to a mainly British musical style of "light" orchestral music,
which originated in the 19th century. Its heyday occurred during the mid-20th century and continues
until the present day. The style is a less "serious" form of Western classical music, featuring through-
composed, usually shorter orchestral pieces and suites designed to appeal to a wider audience than
more serious compositions. The form was especially popular during the formative years of radio
broadcasting, with stations such as the BBC Light Programme featuring a playlist largely consisting
of light compositions. Occasionally known as mood music or concert music, light music is often
grouped with the easy listening genre, although this designation is misleading. Although mainly a
British phenomenon, light music was also popular in the United States and in continental Europe,
and many compositions in the genre are still familiar through their use as film, radio and television
themes.
Drama
Drama is the specific mode of fiction represented in performance: a play, opera, mime, ballet, etc,
performed in a theatre, or on radioor television.[1] Considered as a genre of poetry in general, the
dramatic mode has been contrasted with the epic and the lyricalmodes ever
since Aristotle's Poetics (c. 335 BC)—the earliest work of dramatic theory.[2]
Dance drama
The term originated in the 19th century, but folk musicextends beyond that. Starting in the mid-
20th century, a new form of popular folk music evolved from traditional folk music. This
process and period is called the (second) folkrevival and reached a zenith in the 1960s.
Light music is a musical style that might often be called "easy listening". It started in the United
Kingdom in the 19th century and became very popular in the middle of the 20th century.
Light music was often played at seaside resorts. It often consisted of arrangements for orchestra of
popular songs. It was music that was supposed to be popular, music that a wide audience would be
able to enjoy.
In the 1930s, when the BBC started broadcasting music on the radio (which they then called
"wireless"), light music became very popular. In 1945 the BBC Light Programme was started. One
very popular programme was called Friday Night is Music Night, with music played by the BBC
Concert Orchestra. and Music While You Work was also a very popular programme.
Today Light Music is sometimes seen as not in fashion. Film music is more popular today, and
music from musicals.
Origin of Drama in English Literature. ... The ancient Greek and Roman dramas were mostly
concerned with religious ceremonials of people. It was the religious elements that resulted in the
development of drama. As most of the Bible was written into Latin, common people could not
understand its meanings
Dramatic Dance sets a programme for actors to perform dance as part of the drama, offering
several approaches which can contribute to developing this understanding, to training this skill,
and always ensuring that the whole active and thinking body and mind are fully engaged with
the task of making dance an integral and vital part of theatre. To study dance in this way allows
students to develop further their understanding of logic and structure in a dramatic text.\
Originally used in religious rituals, it was first developed into a theatre technique by the Ancient
Greeks. Around 300 B.C., tableau was used to show events which were not allowed to take
place on stage, such as murder or violence.
Street theatre as a form of communication is deeply rooted in the Indian tradition. In recent
times this form has been used to propagate social and political messages and to create an
awareness amongst the masses regarding critical issues. Street theatre breaks the formal
barriers and approaches the people directly.
Procedure
Folk songs are intensely personal to those who write them, and that should be one of the first things
that you consider when you set out to write a folk song. What are you trying to convey with the
song? Is it intended to be a message for other people about a situation that you feel strongly about?
Or perhaps you want to tell a story about your heritage or culture? Maybe there’s a legend that you
would like to translate into a musical piece. The following steps can help you along your way.
1. Write In One Sitting. Write the first draft of your story in as short a time as possible. ...
2. Develop Your Protagonist. ...
3. Create Suspense and Drama. ...
4. Show, Don't Tell. ...
5. Write Good Dialogue. ...
6. Write About Death. ...
7. Edit Like a Pro. ...
8. Know the Rules, Then Break Them.
9. Defeat Writer’s Block
10. Share Your Work
There are four fundamental elements of dance: Space refers to the movement of
thedancers through physical space, including both horizontal and vertical directionality. Time
refers to the movement of dancers through time, and specifically within relationship to the
music, tempo, meter, or rhythm.

Personal suggestion
Folk music:-
Folk music, in my opinion, has a somewhat more ancient air as compared to other genres.
Traditional folk music have been here for a much longer time, hence their very unique air that
cannot be found in modern music. If I were to describe it, I’d say it is ethereal and have soothing
qualities, and I feel jubilant and elated getting lost in the whimsical fancies folk music has to
offer. What gives meaning to folk music is their purpose, all the way from entertainment,
welcoming the seasons, and paying tribute and homage to deities - so to say, different cultures
interpret folk music in a way unique to themselves, and that I think is the reason I am attracted
to folk music as I am also learning about a culture.
Light music:-
yes light music gives inspiration to be a real human being. As light music and love have no
language yet two or more people alien to each other can communicate their feeling. Light Music
does not divide people rather add them together. This is best way to be connected to the
spirituality and find the path of happiness. A real light music lover can never spread hatred
among people.
Drama
The importance of drama and performing arts in education is significant.
Whether children have the opportunity to perform in theatre productions or help out behind
the scenes, studying Drama and Performing Arts not only engages with the creative side of
the brain, it also provides an ideal balance in students’ patterns of study.
It’s easy for children to become swamped in a sea of theory, which is why subjects that offer
practical learning are essential.
Street Play
The highlight of the street theatre form is that it breaks the formal barriers and approaches the
people directly. This form has been used to propagate social and political messages and to
create awareness amongst the people regarding social issues. ... Issues concerning women are
an important theme in street plays.
Educational Implication
Folk songs tell stories and give us a snapshot of life forgotten or on the verge of disappearing.
Folk songs also tend to highlight facets of living which all cultures share, shedding light on the
similarities between people as opposed to differences. Almost everyone can relate to a folksong.
I like the storyline aspect of folk music and the common threads in the songs help me get out of
my own head and empathize with humanity. I think that's why folk music and it's preservation is
of the utmost importance, no matter where or with whom the song originates.
