COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course concerns an advanced level of understanding of principles and methods


of business research and scientific writing. It deals with the study of the planning,
collection, and analysis of data relevant to business decision making and communicating
the results of this analysis to management. It further deals with the function which the
consumers, customers, and public to the management through information that is used
to identify and define business opportunities and problems; generate, refine, and evaluate
business actions; monitor business performance and improve understanding of
management as a process.

Graduate studies require intensive paper works, therefore, it is expected that each
student shall strive to meet all the required coursework requirements.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

This course enables the learners to prepare a research paper that can be presented in a
local or international conference and possibly get it published in a research journal.

At the end of the semester, the student will be able to:

1. Understand the nature and importance of business research;


2. Apply appropriate statistical tools and techniques in conducting research;
3. Produce a business research;
4. Present the research paper in a local and/or international conference.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Individual Research Paper (30%): Your research project is unique because you will
collaborate with your professor in this subject. The goal is to produce a research article
that can be presented in a local or international conference.

Business Research Conference (30%): The class shall organize a business research
conference during the semester.

Individual SPSS Outputs (20%): From time to time, I will give you assignments where
you will conduct short surveys. These surveys must be processed in SPSS software.
These outputs must be printed and submitted during the assigned sessions.

Attendance (20%) – As an MBA student, you are expected to demonstrate your


knowledge in business research. Likewise, this goal will not be fully utilized if your
attendance is erratic. Being present in our class sessions means having the opportunity
to share your knowledge with your classmates.

Other reminders:

1. Attendance – Your attendance will be checked by affixing your signatures on the class
card. Please do not forget to sign. If you cannot attend the class, you have to inform me
in advance.

2. Consultations – Please do not hesitate to approach me for questions and clarifications


regarding course requirements and other class matters.

3. Syllabus – This syllabus is subject to change. Dates are tentative but we shall strive
to finish all course topics covered, discuss the assigned readings, and accomplish all
requirements within the semester.
