MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE FOR POWER INFLATOR

WARNING: This maintenance procedure is only for appointed Scubapro technicians

that followed a complete course on equipment repair and in no case can replace a
technical repair course delivered by a Scubapro / Uwatec appointed staff.

Tools needed :
1. O ring extractor P/N 43.300.107
2. Air 2 tool P/N 43.300.101
3. Shrader valve tool P/N 43.300.221
4. Multi tool P/N 43.040.000
5. Adjustable spanner
6. Small screw driver
7. 5.5 mm socket wrench
8. Torque wrench
9. 12 mm socket wrench

DISASSEMBLY

1. Remove the quick disconnect assembly from the hose with the multi tool, maintaining the
quick coupling with the adjustable spanner

2. With the o ring extractor, remove the o ring from the swivel end of the hose.

3. With the o ring extractor, remove the o ring from the inside of the quick coupling.

4. With the Schrader valve tool, unscrew the Schrader valve from the inside of the quick
coupling.

5. Unscrew the 2 plugs on the lower part of the inflator with the Air 2 tool.

6. With the small screw driver, unscrew the inflator seat assembly. Remove the o ring from
the seat assembly with the o ring extractor. Remove the inflator button and spring. With
the o ring extractor remove the o ring from the shaft of the inflator button.

7. With the 5.5 mm socket, unscrew the nut retaining the double action exhaust valve.
Remove the exhaust valve and the washer. On the other side, remove the exhaust
button, the spring, the washer and the o ring.

8. With the 12 mm socket wrench, unscrew the male retainer from the body of the inflator.
Remove the o ring with the o ring extractor tool.

PARTS CLEANING
WARNING: Refer to the parts cleaning procedure.

B.P.I. - 2 / 2-
ASSEMBLY

After careful inspection of all the cleaned parts and the static o rings that do not need
replacement, prepare all the parts that need to be changed at every annual service.

a. P/N 01.050.132 the interstage pressure hose o ring

b. P/N 21.562.106 the Schrader valve
c. P/N 01.050.117 the 2 inflator valve shaft o rings
d. P/N 01.050.367 the purge valve shaft o ring
e. P/N 01.050.138 the 2 o rings, male and female quick coupling

1. Place the o ring P/N 01.050.132 on the interstage pressure hose using the o ring
extractor tool and grease slightly.
2. With the small screw driver insert the o ring P/N 01.050.138 in the female quick coupling.
Slightly grease only after the o ring has been inserted.
3. Place the P/N 01.050.138 o ring on the male coupling and grease slightly the o ring and
the threads. Screw this assembly on the body of the inflator with the 12 mm socket
wrench on the torque wrench. Adjust the torque to 4 to 5 Newton / meter and tighten.
Never use a torque exceeding 5newton / meter.

WARNING: The use of a torque wrench is highly recommended, if unavailable, for a

torque of 5 Newton / meter, screw hand tight then use the adjustable spanner and
tighten 1/16 of a turn!!! An excess torque can lead to a permanent deformation or even
rupture.

4. Slightly grease the purge button shaft. Fit the spring then the washer then the o ring P/N
01.050.367. Place this assembly in he body of the inflator.
5. Turn round the inflator and place the small washer on the threaded shaft of the purge
button, fit the double action exhaust valve and then thread the nut. Tighten very lightly
(0.5 Newton / meter) with the 5.5 mm socket wrench.
6. Fit the exhaust plug with the Air 2 tool and tighten very lightly.
7. Place on the inflator button shaft, the o ring P/N 01.050.117 and slightly lubricate. Fit the
spring on the shaft and place this assembly in the body of the inflator.
8. Assemble the o ring P/N 01.050.117 on the seat retainer ( do not grease ).
9. Screw this assembly on the shaft of the inflator button. Tighten very slightly ( 0.5 Newton
/ metre )
10. For the latest versions - place the o ring P/N 01.050.147 on the plug, for the older version
- place the rubber washer P/N 21.080.118 on the plug. Fit this assembly on the body and
tighten lightly.

THE POWER INFLATOR IS NOW READY FOR THE TEST PHASE

1. Connect the interstage pressure hose of the power inflator to a well maintained 1st stage
mounted on a full tank. Slowly open the tank valve.
2. Check if there is no air leak between the female quick coupling and the hose. Check also
for a leak from the Schrader valve inside the coupling. If a leak is detected, locate it and
either a) change the hose o ring b) retighten the Schrader valve with the proper tool or
change it.
3. Connect the power inflator to the hose. Check for any leak. If a leak is detected, change
the o ring P/N 01.050.138 inside the coupling and slightly grease.
4. Cycle a few times the inflator by pushing on the inflator button slowly at first then
completely. Check if the flow is progressive and high.
5. Check the exhaust valve by completely inflating a jacket and immersing the inflator in
water to detect any leak coming from the mouthpiece, the exhaust plug or from under the
purge button. In case of a leak, change the o ring P/N 01.050.367 or the exhaust valve
P/N 21.626.007.
