The turbocharged, competitively priced C-9
meets ERA Tier 2 and EU Stage II emission
standards while offering excellent performance,
fuel economy, reliability and durability. Due to its
efficient performance, the C-9 requires oil
changes only once every 500 hours of operation.
With improved power density, the C-9 has a
smaller envelope than the 3306, allowing for a
straightforward engine conversion in areas
covered by Tier 2 and Stage II emission
standards.
The C-9 is built around a cast iron block with a
deep lower skirt that extends engine durability
and life. An integral oil cooler reduces weight,
leaks and engine width. High coolant and oil flow
aid engine life, and the elimination of a spacer
plate means fewer sealing joints and fewer
leaks.
A mid-supported wet liner allows higher top
piston ring position for better fuel consumption
and reduced emissions. The high-strength, gray
cast iron liner has an induction-hardened
internal surface that provides extended life. And
the liners are removable, allowing for excellent
rebuildability.

heavy-fuel configurations, and vice versa. The

with engine ratings dependent upon fuel
characteristics. Generally, these ratings fall

engines is designed to operate over a range of IS08528, IS03046/1, AS2789, DIN6271, and
speeds to serve the widest possible range of BS5514.
applications. All G3400 engines are built on the
world-renowned Cat diesel frame, making
possible higher running speeds, lower life-cycle
costs, and greater fuel efficiencies.

Caterpillar Engines to the Core

Advanced engineering and manufacturing make
Cat G3400 engines versatile and efficient
powerhouses with a wide operating range and a
wide range of fuel options. Among the power-
producing features are deep-cut, galley-cooled,
3-ring aluminum pistons; specially designed
camshafts; and matched turbochargers.

Electronics Mean Control

By marrying advanced microprocessor
technology to advanced engine design, Cat
engineers have brought gas engine productivity
to new levels of production. From Detonation
Sensitive Timing sensors to the Electronic
Control Module, the G3412C LE has the control
needed to deliver up to 6 percent greater
horsepower with superior fuel economies and
lower emissions.
When the demand is for "around-the-clock,"
year-in year-out service under the most difficult
circumstances, Cat G3400 gaseous fuel engines
are the natural choice.
