“ Blowing out someone’s candle doesn’t make you shine brighter”, this saying

supports the idea of bullying. Most of the people don’t realize how big or serious
this problem is. Bullying is so common in our lives without knowing that it’s
happening when it does. Unfortunately, unlike the other forms of bullying, it can
take you to the next step that can be actually worse than any typical bullying.

With just one click, everyone has a power to access social network very easily
due to the advances in new-found technology and more social media is
developed. However, with something so great comes a price: cyberbullying.

Nowadays, many young people tend to be dramatically affected by the cause of

this terrible source of utter hate and negativity. It is defined as the use of
information and communication technologies to harm others in a deliberate,
repeated, and hostile manner. Typically, by sending messages of an intimidating
or threatening nature. This has been a problem for a prolonged period of time
and became one of the most difficult issues to resolve in our society.

It can happen to you, it can happen to anyone. Mostly, the teenagers or the high
schoolers are said to be the victims for this. As it becomes easier to
communicate with fellow peers it is also easier to cyberbully. Social sites such as
Facebook, Messenger, Twitter etc. are being used. Teens in variety of ages hide
themselves in the screen of a computer, feeling that they had the freedom and
the power to abuse and bully someone. The overuse of social media had brought
a great deal in today’s society.

This hatred has hurt numerous lives of the victims in more ways they imagined,
it affected their whole inner and outer self especially their mental health.
Mental illness has been a huge factor for the victims and will experience
depression that causes the worst case scenario, suicide. Here’s a statement:
“Your skin isn’t a paper, don’t cut it. Your face isn’t a mask, don’t hide it. Your
size isn’t a book, don’t judge it. Your life isn’t a film, don’t end it.”, it means that
ending your life is not the only way to escape this awful thing, thus, we should
learn to love ourselves and look closely to the beauty of yourself.

“Be sure to taste your words before typing them out”. As teenagers, we do not
control the security in social media but we have the power to voice out and
communicate face to face, not the voices that are entangled with the rhythm
of keyboard clicks. That way, things will drastically get better if teens will start
speaking about the experiences of the victims to solve this problem. Let our
voices be heard. A wise and a reasonable use of social media in today’s society
would benefit a lot to the remaining ones.
