Ensuring best fixings practice

Sample Specification Format

Below is a Sample Specification Format for the type of fixing shown.
The objective of all these Sample Specification Formats is to help the user to:

Obtain the correct fixing

Drill the hole to the right dimensions
Install it with the right equipment
Tighten it to the correct torque.

Experience shows that putting this basic information into the specification detail improves the
chances of these objectives being met.

In the following text each “Z” represents information to be entered.

Note: Changing anchor specifications:

Anchors for safety critical applications will have been chosen only after a proper selection process
such as the ETAG Design Method, taking into account many factors. Changing to an alternative make
should only be done after the same factors have been considered. A straightforward comparison of
safe Working or Recommended Loads from catalogues will not take these factors into account nor will
a proof test on site.
