Narrative Report about the Work Immersion

( Feb. 26 – Mar. 1, 2019 )

Municipal Agriculture Office ( Day 1 & day 2 )

We arrive seven o’clock in the morning at the Municipal Hall of Bayabas, this hall
will be our workplace for our Work Immersion program provided to us for the
enhancement of our skills and a deeper orientation about some works we might
get encountered in the future. Before going to our assigned areas/departments,
we attended first the raising of our Philippine flag and take part on the ceremony.
After the ceremony me with my groupmates immediately went to our area and our
first workplace is the Office of Agriculture.

For the first two days, we have observed how the employees take part on
performing their tasks. In the first day, it was full of introduction and orientation
which was held at the Office of Agriculture leaded by Ma’am Geralyn Guibao. At
first she introduced to us what kind of work was bestowed to her and what works
does the department holds. There are three sections in the department: the
livestock; crops; fisheries. In her position she hold the section of crops which
focuses on the farmers who works on the rice fields or planting root crops. After
Ma’am Guibao’s words , she then turnover us to Ma’am Bebelita Revil, whose
position holds the livestock section. She told us that what lies in this section are
mostly on animals, especially those farm animals like cows, buffalos, goats, etc. Her
job was also responsible for the vaccinations of the land animals in the municipality
like Anti-rabies for the dogs and cats. Ma’am Revil finishes her words of wisdom by
leaving us oriented with the projects of the office and the n give the floor to the
last person that will orient us about the last section, Mr. Eddie Gascon. He is in-
charge for the last section, the fisheries which responsible for the preservation and
conservation of the aquatic resources of the municipality of Bayabas, especially the
endangered sea species. He explains how and what are the laws the office holds, it
includes the ordinance about those who got caught doing illegal actions that can
harm our seas.

Later that morning, we have our noon-break and we are expected to come back
before 1:00 PM because they said that we can go with them to Panaosawon to
attend with them the orientation about the problems in the Field. But when we go
there , we failed to reach them because when we go there they already gone. Sadly,
we are left to the office and sat to their shed until afternoon because at that time
there are no pending works to do.

“Tanggapan ng Sangguniang Bayan” ( Day 3 – day 4 )

The next office that our group take in is the TSB office, which the sessions of the
municipal offcicials such as the Vice-mayor, the SB members, and other members
of the community participates in. This ofiice has a lot of function especially in
making some significant municipal ordinance that can benefit the people of
Bayabas. Mr. Macedonio Andoy, the head secretary of the office together with his
co-workers explains to us clearly the function of the TSB. He stated about the
divisions of the Participants in the section through different commitees. We
learbed that there different commitees and different leaders in each. There are
commiitees in Sports, Education, youth and etc. And also he tells us about the
ranking of the SB members in the municipality and how the substitution functions
when one member dies. And it is through the ranking. After that discussions, we
were left again with no paperworks or any kind of works. We are just sitting around
and observe how the employees manage their works. The happenings continue
until the last day. But in the last day, in the afternoon the office held a church
worship which some catholics attended. After that event we attended the retreat
as a closing remarks for our immersion and after that was pictorials with the
officials of the Municipal Hall and other workers.
COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE EFFECTIVITY OF DIFFERENT MUSIC GENRES USED
AS BACKGROUND MUSUC DURING STUDYING FOR AUDITORY LEARNERS IN
SPLNHS

Journal
Our study focus upon the comparison of the cause-effect relationships
between different types of music genre played during studying and the
concentration/memory retention of learners that will be reflected on their
scores on the test. Thus, we deliberated and decided that the research
design that must be employed is the Experimental Design. This simply
means that we will be setting a constant variable to make things fair and to
ensure that the results will be accurate. These variables include the IQ Level
of the test subjects, the type of learner that will be taking part as a test subject
(all must be auditory learners), the amount of time given to the test subjects
for studying and answering the exam, the exact time of the study period and
exam. Since our study is experimental, the independent variable will be
manipulated to observe the relationship and determine the statistical
significance between such variable and the dependent variable. The test
subjects will be randomly assigned into 4 groups and each group will have a
correspondent music genre that will be played during the study period.
Lastly, the dependent variable is the concentration/memory retention.

From the gathered data, we conclude that Heavy Metal Music is among the
best music genre to use as background music along with other subgenres
that have analogous structure with Heavy Metal Music such as Rock and
Alternative Music. It has been evident that listening to such music with strong
dynamics and medium-high tempos has led to better concentration and
memory retention. It is then followed by a silent environment or music genres
with soft dynamics and slower tempos such as Classical Music or Jazz. Last
in place are EDM’s (Electronic Dance Music) and similar genres like Pop that
has catchy beats and imitable rhythm& melody (Copiaco et al, 2009).It is
also concluded by the researchers that complete silence can also be a very
good study environment for auditory learners depending upon their
preference considering that the average scores of the two groups are very
close. This is due to the fact that sound is not only the strength of auditory
learners as it can also be a weakness for them (Fleming N. D., 1995).
Therefore, auditory learners can possibly have increased concentration with
either loud or silent environments depending upon the tasks they’re given as
stated by Neil D. Fleming.
