SCM practices are those managerial actions undertaken to improve performance of the integrated
supply chain. For the purposes of this research, SCM practices have been identified as: strategic supplier
partnership, level of information sharing, quality of information sharing (Li et al., 2006),

3.1 Research hypoth

For the purposes of this research, the construct Supply chain management practices is defined as a
second-order construct that includes strategic supplier Partnerships, information sharing, information
quality (Li et al., 2006), and (Rosenzweig et al., 2003). The research framework put forward in this paper
posits that increased application will improve operational performance both at the Retail and supplier
levels. Supply chain management practices have previously been shown to enhance performance at
various echelons and therefore are posited to be performance enhancing in a small retail context (Li et
al., 2006; Hafeez et al., 2010).

Research Hypothesis

From the calculations and analysis it shows that

H1. Supply chain management practices are positively related to category performance.

H2. Supply chain management practices are positively related to category captain performance.

H3. Supply chain management practices are positively related to minor supplier performance.
Chapter 4

Research Methodology

The research methodology will be discussed about the following chapters. This method consists of
Research design, Population, Sampling and sampling techniques, Sample Characteristics, Instrument and
Reliability.

Research Design

This research is about cross sectional, detailed study based on the implementation of supply chain
practices by small retailers and for data collection questionnaires are prepared and filled by the private
sector Companies existing in Islamabad F11 sector Pakistan.

Research Philosophy and Quantitative Research

In this setup deductive method of research has been used and hypothesis is developed on the bases of
the existing research which were then tested for further confirmation. Quantitative techniques are
encouraged to analyse a large population. However, well standardized information could be collected
for variables related to the supply chain practices in small retailers and their respective relationships.

Sample Size

I have selected all the private limited companies situated in Islamabad F11 sector. All the professional
working in these sectors is the source of information about the supply chain practices and the
implementation of supply chain practices by the retailers. A survey of 122 questionnaires was respond.

Instruments

Questionnaire administration:

A survey based on the 30 questions consists of the 3 sections and each section determine according to
the variables and their relation on the performance of the supply chain.

Population

The study is bounded to those private sectors in Islamabad F11 where proper application of supply
chain practices in small retailers involved in day to day operations and their professionals are highly
skilled in their respective filed.

Sampling and Sampling Techniques

Obtaining data from such an enormous population was not achievable, due to resources limitation,
hence sampling has been used. While choosing sample, ensuring it being representative of the
population has been given every doable attempt. Respondent were required that are involve in the
supply chain department of private sectors in Islamabad F11.
Data Collection

Data analysis Techniques:

Following data analysis techniques are used by using SPSS latest version.

• Fully Completed Questionnaires

• Relationship between variables has been tested.

• Every questionnaire item was coded and decoded was entered.
