A. Preparatory Activities

1. Customary Greetings
Let us all stand. May I request Kisses to ( Kisses will do as told)
come in front and lead us a prayer.

Good morning class! Good morning, Ma’am!

You can now take your seats. As I can

see, all seats were occupied which
means everybody is present. I will
appreciate it if you’re not only
physically but also mentally present.
I’m looking forward for your active
participation.

2. Review
Before we proceed to our topic for
today, let us first recall the things that
we have learned from our last
discussion.

I prepared 4 questions with different

level of difficulty. These questions are
distributed at the bottom. You just need
to choose a letter from A to D to
determine what question you will
answer.

Who wants to try?

Yes, Crispin. (1st question - Multiple choice)

Yes, Roy. (2nd question - Identification)

Yes, Clarisse. (3rd question - True or False)

Yes, Reden. (4th question - Open-ended question)

Seems like you are now ready to our

new lesson.
3. Motivation
To begin, let us all stand and let’s
dance.

Are you ready? Yes ma’am.

Alright then, let’s start! (Students will dance.)

What can you say about the dance? The dance was tiring.

What do you feel after dancing? We felt energize/hot/tired.

That’s right.

B. Presentation of the Lesson

Why do you think we felt hot? The heat from our body came out.

Very good.

For today’s discussion, there are

learning objectives that we need to
attain.

Kindly read, Christian. A. analyze how does heat can be

transferred to another objects,

B. differentiate the methods on

how heat is being transferred, and

C. perform a role play depicting the

different methods on heat transfer.
In order to attain our learning
objectives, we must be able to answer
the essential question at the end of the
discussion.

Kindly read, Samuel. How does heat transfer?

C. Lesson Proper

Pre – Activity

Someone made mention a while ago

that you felt hot after dancing because
heat came out from our body.
What comes into your mind when you Heat is a form of energy that refers to the
hear the word heat? Yes, Andy. thermal energy that is ‘in transit’ or in the
process of being transferred.

Is there a device that can measure how We use thermometer to measure the heat of an
hot the object is? object or place.

Yes, that’s right.

Is there a possibility that heat can be Yes, Ma’am.

transferred?

Let’s try to discover how heat can be

transferred through a comic book.

While I’m reading this book, you need

to listen attentively so that you can
answer your activity sheets.

You will answer those activity sheets

with a partner.

As you can see on your activity sheets,

there is a table that has three columns.
You just need to write what
activity/action of the characters in the
book depicts the three different
methods of heat transfer. Yes, Ma’am.

Is everything clear?

May I know who are boy scouts and (The students will raise their hands if they are
girl scouts? boy scouts or girl scouts.)

Today, we’re going to have a camping (One student will volunteer.)

and I need someone who will act as
teacher and the rest of you will act as
campers.

Activity Proper

Narrator: One morning, the students of Grade

7 – Luna have their Science Camp. After
arriving at the site, they immediately built their
tent.
Teacher: “Good afternoon campers! Before
the sunset, I will give you tasks to accomplish.
If you pass these tasks, you will be given a
reward,”

The first task is for you to find your own food

for this night. You will be group so that no one
will be separated. Are you ready campers?”
Narrator: The campers started to find foods.
After an hour, the campers came back with
their gathered foods.
Teacher: Let’s see what you have gathered
from the woods.

Based on the picture, what fruits do you think They have gathered bananas, sweet potatoes,
they have gathered from the woods? guavas, and mangoes.

We are going to have boiled bananas for We are going to need water, bananas,
supper. What are the things that we need in casserole, woods, and fire.
boiling the bananas?

Look at the picture closely and discover how

heat is transferred as the boiled banana being
cooked.

Describe what will happen to the casserole The casserole will become hot.
after few minutes of exposure to fire.

Why do you think the casserole became hot? The casserole became hot because of the direct
contact with the fire.

Is there a transfer of heat in that scenario? Yes, Ma’am.

Precisely.

Heat transfer will only occur if there is a

difference in the temperature between two
objects.

Before putting the casserole into the fire, what The fire is hotter than the casserole.
is hotter between them?

Based on that, what is the direction of the The direction of the heat when it is being
transfer of heat? Is it from hot to cold or cold transferred is from hot to cold.
to hot?
Very good!

Which object gives off heat? The fire gives off heat.

Which object receives heat? The casserole receives heat.

So, the direction of heat transfer is from fire to

the casserole.

When there is direct contact of the object to the

heat, conduction takes place.

Describe what will happen to the water in the The water will boil.
casserole when we let it stay for 3 minutes.

Do you think there is heat transfer in that Yes, Ma’am.

scenario?

Absolutely.

How does heat is being transferred in that The heat is being transferred from the casserole
scenario? to the water.

Precisely.

Describe the direction of the water based on The hot water in the bottom of the container
the picture. will go to the top and the cold water will go to
the bottom.
Excellent!

When there is a circulation of hot and cold

particles, that’s when convection takes place.

Narrator: As the night approaches, the

campers felt cold.

What are we going to do when we feel cold? We can go closer to the fire.

Is there a transfer of heat there? Yes, Ma’am.

Can you pinpoint the direction of the heat The heat is being transferred from the fire to
transfer when we go closer to the fire? us/campers.

Yes, that’s right. Even though we don’t have

direct contact from the fire, the heat is being
transferred across empty space. We call that
method of heat transfer as radiation.

Narrator: Finally, the boiled banana is already

cooked. The students ate the banana happily.

Narrator: That night, after eating the banana,

the campers slept with happiness and joy
because they’ve learned something new at the
end of the day.

How about you, did you learn something from Yes, Ma’am.
the story?

Have you answered your activity sheets? Yes, Ma’am.

Post – Activity

Pass your papers in front. (The students will pass their papers)

Let’s try to answer the table.

What activity/scene depicts the method of When the banana was being cooked because
conduction in the book? the casserole was being heated.

Very good!

How about the scene where we saw the method When the water in the casserole was being
of convection? boiled.

Precisely.

And for radiation, what is the activity of the When they came close to the fire to make their
characters which depicts it? body warm.

Absolutely.

Do you have any questions? None, Ma’am.

D. Application/Valuing

When you are cooking, are you going to touch No, Ma’am.
the pan directly?

Why do you say so? When you touch the pan directly, your hands
will get burned.
Correct.
Where do you usually go when summer? We go to the beach.

Why are you going to the beach? When summer, the weather is hot and the
water in the beach is cold.
We tend to go to the water when the weather is
hot because water takes a longer time to
become hot than the land.

Why do we need umbrellas and sunglasses We use umbrellas and sunglasses during sunny
during sunny days? days to protect us from the heat coming from
the sun.

Why do we need to protect our skin from the We need to protect our skin because the heat
heat of the sun? from the sun can damage it. Worse, it can
cause skin cancer.

E. Generalization

Now, let’s answer the question presented

earlier.

How does heat transfer? The heat may be transferred through

conduction, convection, and radiation.
Correct.

To further assess whether you understood our

topic today, I have here a concept map.

You need to fill the blank boxes and if you got

the correct answer, you will get the
corresponding prize to it.

Do you understand? Yes, Ma’am.

IV. Evaluation

With your respective groups, you need to

perform a role play depicting one method of
heat transfer.

You need to identify the method or methods

shown in the activity you have performed.

I will give you five (5) minutes to prepare for

your role play and you will have thirty (30)
seconds to one (1) minute to perform it in
front.

You will be graded based on the criteria on the

rubric that you have.

Is everything clear? Yes, Ma’am.

You may now start. (The students will prepare their role play)

Time’s up.

Let’s now see your performances. (The groups will perform)

After eight (8) minutes…

Job well done!

V. Assignment

As a preparation for tomorrow’s activity, try to

answer these following questions.

May you please read, Angela. What are the different types of charges?

How can objects be charged?

What is the purpose of grounding?

How do lighting rods work?

What constitutes a complete electrical circuit?

You may use the internet to search for the

answers to those questions.

Any questions? None, Ma’am.

Let’s call it a day!

Goodbye, class. Goodbye, Ma’am.
