Care With Care Interview Prep Guide

The clients presented to our nurses are all very excited to be interviewing the nurses, are eager to
employ great candidates, and are good employers. All of them care about their employees and offer
good training opportunities and career trajectories. Please do not be thrown off if some of the clients
are very direct or seem strict: our clients are eager to interview you, host you in Germany and make
you feel at home.

Please review the guidelines below: this is what clients are looking for in their hires.

Overall, the employers are looking for candidates who

 show confidence and proactivity
 work hard and are eager to continue to learn
 know that the move to Germany will not be easy, but are excited about the challenge
 can explain what their duties are as a nurse in the home country. Be as specific as possible.
 have done research about the client and can explain why they want to go work at that
specific client
 can explain why they want to come to Germany
 come prepared but have not memorized all of the answers
 share what their personalities are and what they care about in life (hobbies etc)

Regarding the language level:

 It should be good enough to hold most of the interview in German.
 It is ok if the candidate does not understand certain questions or comments. In these cases,
the candidate needs to show proactivity and ask the client to repeat the question, ideally
using different words.
 The candidate needs to be able to answer basic questions such as the ones below.
 Come prepared, but do not memorize all of the answers

What not to do:

 Be shy, not answer questions, say “German language is too difficult”. This will show that you
are not proactive and that you give up when a challenge arises

What to do:
 Be proactive: if you do not understand something, ask the client to repeat it again.
 Show your personality and share information about
o Why do you want to go to Germany?
o What do you like most about your job?
o Why work at this particular employer?
 Show the employer that you are
o Hard working
o Excited to learn
o Are a team player
o Are proud of your job
o Really want to go work with them
 If the connection is so bad that you cannot have a good interview, ask the employer if you
may switch to a phone call or conference call. Otherwise, suggest to reschedule for later that
day or another day.
Specific questions that the client may ask, and what NOT to answer:
 Question from client: Why are you coming to Germany? Answer from candidate: “Because
the technology is better and the work is easier and life is better.”
o Client feedback: we all understand that the living conditions might be better in
Germany, but the employer wants to hear that someone is excited about the
particular role, job and institution. While the answer that the candidates give might
be true, the employer may interpret it as if they did not want to work as hard, or as if
they expected work in Germany to be easy, which is not the case. Your answer
should be specific to the client and show that you are hard-working and really want
to work there.

 Question from client: What do you do as a nurse? Be ready to explain your main
responsibilities. You should also be able to explain how a typical work day looks like: give
specific examples of how you spend their time and tasks that you do.

 Question from client: How do you feel about leaving your family (husband, often kids)
behind?
o If you are leaving the family behind, the client wants to know that you have thought
it through. Otherwise, they fear that you will be homesick as soon as you get to
Germany and will soon return to the Philippines. Here are a few examples of
potential answers:
 An answer could be that they have spoken to CWC about the implications
and hope to bring the family to Germany after a year or so, once they are
familiar with Germany.
 Another possible answer is that you may plan to live in Germany for 5 years
to save money before going back… Although it will not be easy to be apart,
you may be convinced that this is what you want to do and that it will be
best for your family in the long term. You also plan to go back on vacation
every year to visit your family.
