MOTIVATION
Engage students by a video presentation about the digestive system.
Ask questions after watching the video.
DISCUSSION
Food plays a central role in the survival of species. Organism are able to obtain
energy from the food they eat through digestion. Digestion is the process by which food
is changed to a simpler form after it is eaten.

Digestive system is a group of organs that breaks down food in order to absorb its nutrients.
It is made up of GI tract (Mouth, Pharynx, Esophagus, Stomach, Small intestines, Large
intestines, Rectum) Gall bladder, Liver and Pancreas.
*(Discussion of the GI tract individually)

Digestive system helps to move food and liquid through GI tract and once foods are
broken into small enough parts our body can absorb and move the nutrients to where they
are needed.

APPLICATION
Let the student realize the importance of the digestive system in human.

GENERALIZATION
Wrap-up all the topics discussed. Let students ask questions and clarifications.

IV. Evaluation (10 minutes)

1. On a ¼ sheet of paper let students identify the important parts of the digestive system
shown in the screen.

V. Assignment

1. Are the human structures of the digestive system also found in other organism?
2. Are these structure the same as those found in other organism?
3. Do they serve the same or similar functions?
