LESSON: KNOWING GOD THROUGH HIS WORD 

TOPIC: WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF THE BIBLE 

SCRIPTURAL TEXT: DAN. 9:2 

(A). INTRODUCTION 

You have entered into the real world on the day you entered into the world of the Bible as 
a student. 

The word "Bible" means "book" or "books" from Greek word " biblios" or "biblia". So the 
Bible is the book of books; it is the greatest book ever written. 

● According to the above passage, it is when we get to the Bible that we begin to 
understand God's plan for man, and how events in our world had been programmed by God. 
This understanding is necessary if we shall be able to live the life God intends for us to 
live and be fulfilled in our lives.

(B) SOME FACTS TO KNOW ABOUT OUR BIBLE 

1. The Bible is God's inspired revelation of the origin and destiny of all things. 
Gen. 1:1. - For the origin of heaven and earth 

Rev. 21:1-2 - For the destiny of heaven and earth. 

2. The Bible is a library of 66 books, and it covers the whole range of literature. 

*CREATION. *EDUCATION. *PHILOSOPHY 

*HISTORY. *LAW & ETHICS. * NATIONS 

*GEOGRAPHY. *COMMUNICATION * TRAVELS & TOURISM 

*SCIENCE. * DRAMA. * LITERACY & LINGUISTICS 

*BIOLOGY AND *RELIGION. * POETRY 

BOTANY. *CIVILIZATION 

*MANKIND. *BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION * GOVERNMENT

3. The Bible alone has the true answers for the questions of all ages. 

- Where did it all begin? 

- Why are we here? 
- What happens next? 

4. The Bible is its own commentator and interpreter. 

5. The Bible is the greatest book ever written. 

6. The Bible is a supernatural book with the great transforming power. 

7. The following facts points to the Bible, as the word of God:  

1. The Bible is universal in its appeal. 

2. It is reasonable in its teachings 
3. The promises of the Bible are reliable 
4. It is everlasting in its usefulness 
5. It is always new and modern in its statement 
6. It is indispensable in its history 
7. It is indisputable in its civilization 
8. It is interesting in its history 
9. It is colourful in its biography 
10. It is individual in its message 
11. The Bible is far reaching in its vision 
12. It is complete in its laws 
13. It is comprehensive in its knowledge 
14. It is infinite in its details 
15. It is simple in its application 
16. It is just in its demand 
17. It is righteous in its judgement 
18. It is original and authentic in its truth 
19. It is accurate in its prophecies 
20. It is unique in its inerrancy, in its influence, in its integrity, in its instruction and in 
its inspiration (the way God has guarded the truth to remain truth). 

CHALLENGE- Are you a Bible believer? If yes, your life must become a commentary, a 
positive commentary of Bible ideals.
