On
Psychology in Architecture
Aim:
How human behavior and senses reacts and responds to Negative and
Positive spaces.

Objective:
 To invoke and realization through architecture the sense of grief,
loss,awareness,peace, wisdom etc.

 How the 5 senses hierarchically segmented to achieve the main


goal.

 How the built environment, spaces could intensifies and harmonizes


the same emotion aroused.

Need:

Methodology:

The Research process:


- Introductionto different literature on concepts , research findings,etc.
in behavioral architecture.
- Studyof 5 senses i.e. Sight, Touch, Smell, Sound, and Taste etc.
And their responses towards the negative and positive spaces.
- Classification and connection of each segmented variables of the
mentioned 5 senses.
- Contextual case studies and references for dealing with the more
complex and
- Finding out the relationship of the analysis and data’s in the built
environment.
- Contextual case studies ,taking reference from research papers ,
statistical data and analysis for further research and conclusion.
- Frame working the specific variables according to the 5 senses i.e.

Sight - space, volume, color, light


Sound –language ,sources, music , ambiance , noise , silence
Touch -texture , landscape , built forms , dust
Smell - odour of the space , inbuilt fragrances
Taste –

Results :
Intellectual consequences: Key findings of the psychological aspects
in negative and positive spaces .

Conclusion :

The user group will be the main responders of the proposed design with a new
space designed keeping in mind the psychological aspect , human behavior and
senses that gets affected by it and through this we achieve the target of revitalize
and realization of the whole concept behind the design using their emotion as
the main tool.
