FACTS
Rizal spent a night with an unknown
Austrian woman during his stay in
Hotel Metropole (this is according to
Maximo Viola, Rizal’s travelling
companion).
ANALYSIS
Rizal is friendly to women. It doesn’t
mean that Rizal has a lot of women,
then, he is a bad hero. It is really a
fact that he also spent time to be
with the women aside from this
known fact. In fact, we do not know
what they were doing inside.
Although we can say an assumption
to someone if it talks about hotel, but
still we don’t have enough evidences
or proofs to conclude about Rizal. It
could be that they were just talking
together there for business matter or
negotiation or it could also be the
other way around. But then again,
there were no evidences after all.
OUTCOMES
Based on this fact and the value we
can get, as part of the society, we
therefore say that as a person it is
very important to be friendly to other
people even when it comes to
stranger. In doing such, of course
there are limitations. But, the point
there is that since we Filipinos are
known to be hospitable and Rizal
proved that in his way of dealing with
others, particularly to the women. In
addition, as students, we therefore
have to be friendly by greeting
others and by having time to know
them.
Another value is that never judge
someone especially if there are no
basis or evidences to prove. Only
judge if there are evidences and do it
in a proper way.
