Why English is important for engineering students?

Introduction: - Nowadays, English language is very important for

the international business technology, diplomacy, banking,
computing, medicines engineering and tourism. About one fifth of
people all over the world know more or less about English. It is
spoken by 1.8 billion people in the world and the number is still
increasing. Almost every university in the world conduct its study
programmes in English. We are obviously surrounded by English
language such as internet, T.V., radio. There are many things whose
meaning is not known in our regional language we know and use it
in English. For engineers, it is the most important language for their
study and communication, they have to read about scientific
experiment and notes which is obviously written in English. There
are some more reasons for the importance of English for
engineering students.
Importance of English communication for engineering students: -
1. Engineering is the biggest field of study in the world. First of
all, English is a tool which affects the most, engineering
students in academic life. While most of the theories in
engineering are taught in English, it requires to have good
English knowledge and communication skill to understand
them.
2. In academic life, engineering students have to deal with the
countless English lectures, tutorials, labs, project report,
 assignments and papers. Most engineering professors in
various universities are from abroad and they conduct their
lectures in English.
3. Internet, the most convenient source of information provides
most of the information in English.
4. When study of engineering is completed and they are in the
process of job seeking in different companies, it is very
necessary to have good knowledge of English because all the
process of interview is entertained in English. After securing
the job they are required to work in groups and their
colleagues are form different type of countries so they are
required to talk in a common language among all of them,
which is obviously English.
5. Being an engineer requires to co-operate and communicate
with different people from different part of the world. English
is used as the working language on large extent. In order to co-
ordinate with the colleague engineers have to speak fluent
English.
So, English communication skill plays an important role in the
academic life as well as career of engineering students.

Conclusion: - English communication skills are recognised as the

important element in the academic life and career of the
engineering students. It requires to make use of integrated
methods to facilitate advanced communication skills, which is
the demand of industry as well as society.
