The controller can handle 2 air compressors for guaranteed rational, cost-effective management and energy saving by

avoiding unnecessary stop/restart cycles.

General information
The Twin-Start controller may only be used as specified in this manual. Keep the manual in good condition in a known, accessible
place for the whole operational life of the equipment.
• The User must appoint an operator who will be charge of the controller. This person shall be responsible for controller inspection
and maintenance or shall delegate another person to do so. When the operator in charge is to be replaced temporarily or permanently,
his/her substitute shall read the operating and maintenance instructions and any records of past servicing and/or maintenance
carefully.
• When requesting servicing, always state MODEL and SERIAL NO.

Safety rules
The controller is tested at the factory before shipment. The controller has been designed for the intended purpose specified in this
manual. It is forbidden to use the controller for any purpose other than specified in this manual and the manufacturer shall not be
liable for any damage to property and/or persons resulting from such use. Have the equipment installed and calibrated by SPECIALIZED
PERSONNEL in compliance with the instructions provided in this manual so as to ensure proper operation.
Use original spare parts only. Using non-original spare parts may shorten the useful life of the equipment and shall invalidate the
warranty effective immediately.
NOTE: Always power off the controller and the compressors connected to it before servicing any inner components.

Warranty conditions
• All controllers are duly tested at the factory and are covered by twelve (12)-month warranty. Warranty period begins upon
delivery date.
• Warranty operates when all contract provisions and administrative regulations have been complied with and on condition that
machine is installed and operated in compliance with the instructions given in this manual.
• Any originally damaged or defective parts will be repaired or replaced free of charge.
• Labor cost is not covered under this warranty and will be charged to User.
• Warranty does not cover: all wear parts, transport costs and any servicing or repair work done by our engineers on site (on-site
inspection, disassembly and re-assembly) due to malfunction not arising from defects of manufacture.
• The decisions made by the engineers of our “AUTHORIZED SERVICE” organization shall be treated as final decisions.
• This warranty does not cover liability for direct or indirect injury to people and/or damage to property arising from improper use.
Warranty is limited to defects of manufacture only.
• Making even minor changes to or anyway altering the equipment, or using non-original spare parts shall make the warranty null
and void.

Installation
• The controller is compatible with power mains providing 230V±10% 50/60Hz single-phase alternated current. If you need to
adapt equipment to the mains rating in use in your country, contact a specialized technician.
• Connect connector (A) to factory compressed air using a hose with 6-mm diameter. Make sure the measuring point of line
pressure is as close as possible to tank pressure value. If possible, connect directly to tank.
• This manual includes the wiring and hook-up diagrams relating to the different machines in the FINI range, including the Rotar
and Pulsar machines. Look up these diagrams carefully in addition to those relevant to the individual compressor before performing
any connection. If your compressor is not included in the attached diagrams, contact the authorized service center nearest you to
obtain the necessary information.

Have all connections performed by a specialized technician.

Switches on the rear of controller

SW1 ON – Enables compressor automatic restart after a mains failure event

OFF – Compressor will only restart when you press the START key
SW2 ON – Compressor restarts after pressure has remained too low for 3 minutes
OFF – Compressor restarts after pressure has remained too low for 1 minute
SW3 ON – Delayed stop. When you press the STOP key, the compressor will only stop after reaching line pressure. The red
LED OFF flashing indicates power-off cycle. This feature is useful when you wish to avoid restarting the compressor
when head is under pressure. As a matter of fact, once line pressure has been reached, the pressure switch with
overload cutout will discharge any exceeding air.
OFF – When you press the STOP key, the compressor will stop without delay. Not recommended unless head is
equipped with a drain valve.
SW4 ON – Activates dryer condensate drainage. A drainage cycle of 5 secs. will be run every 5 minutes.
OFF – Where two dryers are connected together, setting switch to OFF will operate them alternately at 5-minute
intervals.

Additional settings
Before operating the compressors, make sure the pressure switch incorporated into the controller is properly set.
Factory setting is as follows:
maximum pressure: 9 bar, range (difference between minimum and maximum pressure): 2 bar.
In the event the compressors connected to the controller feature different maximum pressures, or if you wish to change the
pressure range (difference between stop and start pressure values), turn the two screws placed on pressure switch head. Read the
pressure value on the graduated scales located on pressure switch body.

Start-up procedure
Press the START key to start the compressor. The ON LED will turn on (LED on = selected operation cycle has been activated,
LED flashing = system under pressure). The pressure switch will turn on the AIR pressure indication to show system condition (LED
on = low pressure, LED off = optimal pressure). The LED ESS comes on when dryer starts operating, whereas LED’s M1 and M2
show the condition of the two pump units.

Selecting mode of operation

Keep the STOP key depressed for at least 4 seconds to select mode of operation. The controller will cycle through the different
modes at ½ second intervals, as the green LED’s relating to the different modes turn on. To select a mode, release the STOP key
while the green LED for that mode is on. Mode selection will be retained after a power-off.

• M1-M2 mode: the two pump units operate alternately.

Note that feature SW2 will only operate when this mode is selected. Consider your air consumption and set this switch to ON (low
consumption) or OFF (high consumption) accordingly. When line pressure is reached, both pump units will stop and will only start
pumping again when pressure drops.
• M1 mode: only pump unit M1 operates.
• M2 mode: only pump unit M2 operates.
NOTE: If you are using one pump unit at a time, be sure to make use of the two units equally, otherwise either of the two will wear
earlier.
• M1+M2 mode: both units operate at the same time.
Unit M1 starts up first, while unit M2 starts about 10 seconds later. When line pressure is reached, both units stop and resume
operation as soon as pressure drops.
NOTE: Please consider that operating both units at the same time is rather costly. Simultaneous operation is only worth the cost
when one needs to meet large compressed air requirements. When this is the case, expect consumption to spike especially during
start-up.

Seek advice from your installation engineer to determine which mode of operation best suits your needs. Compare your compressed
air requirement and air delivery rating stated on the CE plate of the compressor.
