 Why does IKEA consider it a mistake to accommodate the values of its customers?
The IKEA company considered a mistake to accept or accommodate the values of it’s
customers, it is because there might be a bad impact to the image of their company. Other
might think that, they are discriminating other people races like what happened to the people
of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Also, if they will not accept the values or beliefs of one
person, Consumers or buyers will not avail the products of Ikea’s company. IKEA consider it
a mistake so their consumers won’t leave a negative feedback about their company. The
feedback of your consumers is important because it is part of a successful business. When
you start a business you need to satisfy your consumers so they will support your business.
You need to consider their opinions too so you will know what is wrong on it. What will
happened if you don’t consider their opinions, you will just end up nothing. But making a
business you need to know and respect their beliefs, cultures, religion and many more so you
won’t offend them. That is why IKEA consider it a mistake. Because in Saudi Arabia women
are not allowed to travel or study without male permission and are expected to avoid driving
and to cover their bodies and hair. It's a sign of respect to others, that is why they remove
women in the catalog. Not just a respect in the country but also a respect for the women who
lives in that country. Business is business, in order for you not to get negative feedbacks from
the others you will also think values that could fit you and your consumers as well. Since
IKEA do not want to clash values in Saudi Arabia they photoshopped the women in the
broucher. IKEA apologized because they had to remove those women in the catalog, since
IKEA also produces brouchers in Saudi Arabia. In that case, they produces catalogs that is
appropriate in the country. We should never expect corporations to do the right thing in place
of the thing that will increase their sales. In order to have good sales we should be open-
minded. Also, in that every outcome there would be a positive and negative results. In
business you will have to put your consumers first and subsequently impress them. In order
for you to have a better outcome and a good feedback. You need to satisfy what they want
and what they need. And you will have to hear what they want to say about your services.
