1.1 Project Title

“LMS” (Library Management System).

1.2 Project Overview Statement

LMS (Library management system) is a computerized system designed and programmed to deal
with day to day operations taking place.
This application is basically aimed to diminish the man power and move towards automation.
This is the Library Management System software which is used to computerize any
Library System, so that all the transactions become fast and there should not be any
error in transactions. It replaces all the paper work. Opening the software requires to
login with user name and password. It performs all the features of the modern library
that is book issue, return, and fine calculation. Reader can issue books, return books
and find books in the library by a simple search done on the book id. Fine can be
updated or changed depending on the requirements of the administrator. It keeps
records of all the books, given to the customers, so that administrator could update his
daily reports. Reader and book details also maintained and the administrator holds the
main account. Security and authentication are maintained by keeping a record of reader
names and passwords; the administrator holds the main account and password.
Different reports can be generated like daily reports and the user report, book type
report and the book code report.

The main goal of this project is to facilitate libraries in order to automate the records management process.

Assumptions, Risks and Obstacles:

 Can be problematic for the costumers who are not computer literate.
 It is difficult to have real time costumers on higher level
 Hardware issues (in case of system failure)
 This application is not for iOS users.

The objectives of this project are as follows:
 To facilitate library management in regard of books management and billing.
 To provide the whole menu of library in one application
 To make this application user friendly.

 To make this application on iOS platform
 To make this application efficient enough to cover all the scenarios.

High level components of this application are as follows:

1. Powerful Hardware:
The laptops or other devices should be quick responsive and easy to
handle.
 2. Menu Database:
Application should have all components of menu and will update menu’s.

3. User-friendly Interface:
Interface should be friendly on user end and on admin side

4. Reviews and Suggestions:

Costumer will give reviews and suggestions through application.

Android Studio:
Will be used to code the modules of the project.

 Will be used for developing schedules, critical path analysis, managing resources
and creating Gantt chart.
Microsoft Visio 2015 and Rational Rose:
Will be used to create UML diagrams for the project deliverables.
