Travelling

Nowadays you can get to almost all parts of the world, for instance from Europe to Africa or Asia,
therefore every day more and more people travel all around the world. They travel to school, on business
or to work as well, moreover many people travel for pleasure, too.
The airports, railway stations, bus stations, in addition bus stops are full of people travelling (1) for /
about long or short distances.
All in all travelling has recently become one of the most (2) popular / famous hobbies and it is also an
interesting way of spending holidays.

PLANE
When people travel a long distance they usually travel by air. Travelling by air is fast,
comfortable and exciting but it can be quite expensive, as well.
In the 21st century it became one of the most important ways of transport. In addition to there are
several airlines. Due to budget airlines travelling by plane has become cheaper. Besides travelling
by plane is relatively safe, however, lots of people are still afraid of flying by plane.
Before travelling by plane people can ask for information about flights from the airlines or travel
agency.
At the airports the passengers who are travelling with
international or intercontinental airlines (3) can / have to
show their flight tickets and passports, as well. The passengers
must also go through the customs.
Then the passengers can go to the waiting room. On the board
of the plane the stewardesses show them their seats.
On the planes over the seats there are some signs like Fasten
Your Safety Belts and No Smoking. These signs flash up before
and while the plane takes off.
The stewardess (4) takes / offers the passengers some meals,
drinks and sweets during the flight, furthermore the
passengers can also read magazines.
After (5) leaving / landing passengers get out the plane and go through custom where their
passports are checked and their luggage is examined owing to security reasons.
TRAIN
If you haven't got enough money and you need to
travel for a long distance you can use trains instead (6) for /
of travelling by plane.
Travelling by train is the most common form of travelling.
Trains are used every day by lots of people to and from
work or school. They are not as fast (7) as / than plane,
they’re slower but cheaper. Moreover, there are no stressful
traffic jams. Besides trains are less polluting and safe.
On the other hand, they’re not very clean and less comfortable.
The main advantages of trains are that they can (8) carry / put people for long distances in large

Fast trains are more comfortable for longer distances moreover they do not stop at every station.
Furthermore there are a sleeping car and a dinning car in fast trains, as well.
Do not forget to buy a ticket before the journey if you travel by train.

CAR
Lots of people say, that car is the most comfortable mean of travelling, as it is faster than
going by buses or trams. Lots of people enjoy
driving a car at a high speed and do not think of
the dangers of fast driving. The cars are quick and
comfortable, however, they are not safe and are
rather expensive.
The number of cars on the roads and highways gets
higher (10) besides / and higher year by year. The
growing number of cars is a danger not only for
people but also for the environment, since they (11)
harmful / pollute the air.
Besides, there can be traffic jams, so you can get stuck in a traffic (12) jam / marmalade and
there can occur problems with parking, especially in busy places, such as at hypermarkets or in
the city centre.
BIKE
The young enjoy travelling by bike worldwide. Some of

them go to school by bike; others prefer cycling as a sport or a

hobby. Nowadays several young people go on holiday by bike

which is fast, healthy and exciting. There is a wide range of

bicycles, for example you can buy mountain bikes, too.

Cycling is popular, but it can be dangerous (13) because / owing

to the lots of cars and other vehicles.

Moreover you can't ride it in every weather, you can't relax, work or eat or phone (14) during /

in the way, consequenty others prefer going by car or buses.

Yet, summer is the best season for organizing cycling tours due to the good weather.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
If you haven't got an own car, you can use public
transport, too. In large cities there is a wide (15)
various / choice of them for instance buses, trams,
trolley buses or underground / tube.
You must have a ticket if you want to travel by public
lines. There is a self-service system in buses and trams,
it means you take a ticket and punch it in a slot machine.
Buses, trams and tubes are often (16) fill / crowded, especially in the morning hours of
weekdays in large cities. Yet, going by buses or trams are quicker than going on foot. Tube is the
fastest, as it goes under the ground.
Buses differ from trams and tube because buses pollute the air, however trams and tube don’t.
You can also travel by coaches. Coaches are buses for long distance travelling. They are
comfortable and fast, besides the prices of tickets are (17 ) rather / quiet reasonable.
